He was a great guy wrapped up with some bad people. Shane Carlsen is the prime suspect at this time and was arrested right after being released from Vanderbilt were he was recovering from a bad bike wreck which he had 2 days after the murder. The actual reason is unknown of course. But it was in conection to drugs. Sadly Chad was beaten to his demise and sad as well his father was the one to find him. Please lets are remember the good and use this to remind our kids how dangerous a life involved around drugs can be. I lost a 2 friends one dead and one going to prison both had familys and both familys are good people. Thanks to you who have not used this as an opportunity to gossip or spread horrible rumors thanks and god bless you all. homicide march5,09 bike acc. march10,09

You reap what you sow...Chad was one of the kindest people I have ever met. Yes, he had a drug problem. Shane is a con artist and always has been. He's spent over 8 years in prison for drugs already. The motorcycle accident was just poetic justice. He's gonna be someone's BIT$H now. Serves him right.

I didn't know Chad, but he was friends with Shane and a co-worker, Shane never had a bad word to say about any of the guys he worked with, he liked all of them.Bewfore you start spredding stories, it would be nice to get the facts straight. Shane, is a all around nice guy, wouldn't hurt any one. Yes, he went through a bad time, none of it for aggressive behavior. He didn't spend 8 years in jail, a year maybe counting work release. Theres no poetic justice about a accident of any kind.Go to school and learn how to spell again.

I am not an idiot but I do care about my cousin. You all say he is on drugs yet the hospital ran tests and he was clean. You could say that he quit so he would not get caught. I say I know Shane well enough to know that if he was on drugs, he could not just quit. He was in jail and prison off and on for some years but that is the past. Believe it or not, he went to jail to protect his family. I know tha regardless of Shane's past and throughout the future, we will stand by him and support him. This is supposed to be a safe place to express out opinions, name calling sure is not safe or called for.

It possibly could have been over a business deal gone wrong. I don't think either would have killed over drugs. Let's say that IF he did do it, he was probably on something because a few people say it is not in his character to physical assault someone. IF he killed Chad, then once that realization hit he probably cleaned his act up quick. IF he did it, then he probably had that guilty conscience and he knew he would be questioned. Anyways, the trial will come soon enough, and then that sealed affidavit will be unsealed and all the information that it contains will be heard. Hopefully there will be closure brought to all involved.

"The salesman" I read in the hickman times yesterday that Shane plead quilty on 2nd degree murder charges and will likly spend 25 years! They talked with chad's family and they agreed on the plea and the sentence! i guess like many said time would tell and it did! They said that they found shane's dna on the belts and chad's cell phone and two bloody hand prints on the floor that belonged to him! Its really said what drugs will do to friends and people in general!

Yes Shane plead guilty, he admitted what he did and talked about the events leading up to the murder and events after. He is in Jail, it is in the past. Although what Shane did was wrong and Chad is gone the people I feel most sorry for are Chad's family and Shane's children who must move through their life with out their dad. Shane was a good father and though he had his faults he tried to keep his issues away from his children and wife.

Shane & Mandy were on the outs before all of this happened. I find it hard to believe that you can be a drug addict and a good father and husband at the same time. He obviously wasn't a good husband or he wouldn't have been living with his brother when this occurred. Shane is just a f#ck up. The real shame in all of this is that he is young enought to get out of jail in twenty five years...probably go back to slinging drugs again.

Actually drugs make good people do bad things people make mistakes it's to bad Shane's mistakes costed someone their life. Shane is a great guy and always was he's made poor choices and his family and the deceased family will suffer for them. Don't fool yourself Shane will regret his actions for the rest of his life whether he spends 10 years or 100 behind bars. Its obvious you don't know Shane at all! I love him dearly we grew up together it doesn't mean I excuse his actions or that I don't feel horrible for the other family involved. My heart goes out to all affected by this!

I don't feel sorry for either one of them. Both were drug pushers/users and both are out of Centerville. Two birds with one stone.

22 years old i fell 110% in love with Shane Carlsen. I still think about him everyday. Im 35 now and its been many years since we had to go our seperate ways but i have to say ive never loved anyone like i loved Shane and nobody has come close to filling the place in my heart that only he holds the key too.Love can touch just one time and last for a lifetime. I am so so sad all this has happend. I beleive it wasnt intended, things must have gotten out of control. We have all fallen short, we are all guilty of sin, most people may not act it out as in murder but go around saying horrible things that bring death and not life to others. We judge and condemn and let anger turn to wrath and before we know it we are poisned by our own bitterness. Life here in this place is so short. We waste so much of it on useless empty things. I pray everyone who reads this and everyone who knows the gut wrenching pain of loving someone so much and being torn away from them will not waste anymore time or freedom and love with all your hearts. Love like you want to be loved regardless if they deserve it. Forgive and especially when you dont feel like it....Love anyway. Love covers a multitude of sin and can turn a man from wrath .Mercy is greater than Justice. I miss you so much.

Love covers a multitude of sin and can turn a man from wrath .Mercy is greater than Justice. I miss you so much. Let me first start with you will receive no sympathy from me. I knew Shane. I know his wife and kids. I also knew the man he murdered in cold blood. Chad wouldn't hurt a fly and anyone who knew him could tell you that the whole it must have got out of control is a crock of shit, too. He couldn't of done much to hurt anyone. He had physical limitations that even a 14 year old girl could have got the best of him. I mean no disrespect by that. It just the facts. Chad would have never hurt anyone anyhow. His only problem was the issue that involved him with Shane and got him killed. You love a monster. He didn't even shoot him or kill from a distance. He had to use his bare hands. It got very personal, physical. A good person doesn't do that. Take your load of shit somewhere else. No one in Centerville, TN gives two shits about Shane except that most hopes he rots in hell. Your display of affection can be taken else where.
