Hurry up and move, so you can run. I would like to see a reserve officer program that helps out, and is more than a few close friends of the Sheriff.

Thanks. The current Sheriff's term expires next year, I believe. I won't be running at the end of that term, but at the end of the next one.

A Reserve Officer's program is exactly what is needed in any Department. A Citizens Academy and a Volunteer Program is also needed.

I have a lot of changes that I would implement in the Sheriff's Department to include the use of a lot of the citizens of Hickman County.

I have quite a bit of experience in Law Enforcement, Corrections and the Courts.

Thanks again.

You will know I'm there when you see a female's name on the ballot for Sheriff.

I have seen to much of the "good ole boy" system at work here. I know people that that live in Hickman county that are more than qualified to be a deputy/officer and have passed the police academy, but make more money and have better benifits than a small department can provide. They want to give up their own time to work as a reserve officer/deputy. But they are told that no program is available. Or told that the county legislative body wont allow a program. However there are "special deputies" and reserve officers/deputies that "dont exist" when you ask. Basicly friends of someone, and now they have a commision card/badge and a weapon, but you never see them.
I am glad somebody else has noticed some of the BS that goes on here.

There is a serious lack of law enforcement in Hickman county. If people want to volunteer their time to help, and are qualified/will get qualified they should be allowed to help. Might cut down on some of the crime here. Same thing with the rescue squad. It seems that it has become an old mens club.
Most of the current rescue squad is a joke. They have so many that are are the squad that you never see. You always see the same few helping. It is time for new leadership, and new blood in the squad.

<quoted text> I am seeing a growing voice of the problems in and around Hickman county and Centerville. Mainly at the emergency services. Teh Centerville PD, and Hickman county SO being too small to protect and serve the people. The rescue squad and other fire services being more of a exclusive club than interseted in getting more help. The question is, what can be done? How bad will things have to get before something changes? I know one young man that has tried help out for years. He has a law enforcement/military/fire rescue background. However is not allowed to do any of those things in Hickman county, where he grew up. He is basicly looked down upon because he isnt in the "click". He has been described as "gung ho", or too eager. Since his last deployment to Iraq, he hasnt been the same. He has seemed to have lost his faith, as if he hasnt made up his mind what side of the fence he is going to be on anymore, good or bad. He has said that it wouldnt take much (operationaly speaking) to cripple Hickman county.
You know, if you kick a dog enough, at some point he will bite you. I am not saying that he will "snap". But one has to wonder the extent of the damage if that happen.
Sounds like he is tired of being shunned.
