You are exactly right. Everyone should be treated the same. I guess thats why when we do wrong, we go to jail just like everyone else. The rehab issue that you keep bringing up is either court ordered or volunteer, so complain about the court system while your at it. All the officer's can do is make an arrest. It is up to the courts, lawyers, ect. to make the charges stick and also to put people where they need to be. And like I said before, I dont care what your opinion is of people that I rarely ever see or speak to anyways,(aunt) so with that being said, you can keep this merry go round arguement going all by your self because at this point its like a record on repeat and I am sick of talking about the same continuous thing. I will say this, my husband works his ass off and we dont get any assistance and it makes me mad as hell too when people draw food stamps, welfare, disability and god knows what else when they are just as capabale of working, but I am not blaming law enforcement or anyone else. I blame the people that are too lazy to get a job.

Good golly, "Sassy", thank you for the amusement. You really are so silly. I'll just say, "bless your heart" because I don't believe there is any hope for you opening up those eyes of yours. Harness nor any other officer has absolutely NOTHING to do with the amount of jail time someone receives.

It has a lot to do with it since it is a known fact that your mothers sister and her husband draws a disability check, run to every doctor around to get pain pills, sell them every time they get in trouble its a short trip to rehab then its back to the same old thing if it was anybody else it would be jail time, tell me just how many times have they been in rehab? It is for sure that rehab is not working, but I know they wont be spending any amount of time in jail, this I know for sure. I never said I had a perfect family, but I can assure you that if my family had got caught doing what your family does they would be in jail, thats my problem everybody should be treated the same, but that is not going to happen when half of your family is employed by the Sheriff's Department!
How do you know so much about their business? You have to be really close to know so much. You are freaking out about the law enforcement in Hickman, but justifying it with extended family having problems with addiction? Every family I know has an extended family member, or immediate family member, with substance abuse issues. Just because they tend to repeat offenses, and almost all do, it must mean that it's the other family's fault??? Do you know how stupid you sound?

they can if it is slander and defamation of character, and since it is typed it is now considered libel. I know what you are by the way. People like you on the internet are called "trolls" you go onto a thread and turn the conversation around into something else entirely. You throw ignorant, unrelated pieces of opinion into the pile hoping to get people riled up. You should change your screen name to prepare people for your ignorant banter.

Hi Melissa :) I know you and your husband, and I have had the pleasure of meeting your children too. They are really well-mannered, and very smart. It is obvious you are an excellent mom. I also know your mom and dad, and they have always seemed fair to me. All of this garbage on here is for the birds. Sassy is bitter about something, and obviously it has something to do with someone in your extended family, but I dont see how that involves your immediate family. To blame your mom and dad, in an internet forum by slandering them, for not agreeing with a sentencing handed down by a judge is immature. Its like getting mad about the gas prices and punching the cashier in the face. Stupid.

Really, you don't know shit about what goes on I found out more than I want to know, people in this county are quick to judge someone who may have got arrested, they are labeled for life, but I promise you a lot of people are in jail for simple things, everyboby makes mistakes, but it it unfair when you have police officers who are suppose to set good examples doing way worse things than a lot of people that are in jail, you don't have a clue what goes on,people like you think that just because they are police officers that thet are good people, think again.I promise you if you knew the things I did you would change your mind. This is not the perfect world that everybody wants it to be everybody is human, deputies do make mistakes but it's whan they know they are making a mistake and they know they can get away with it,or get it swept under the rug and the TBI is investigating them they have been for a while honostly I dont know why any thing hasen't been done yet.

My son is in 940. Shock of alifetime Monday morning. He is scared and not a hardened criminal. No one will tell him or me or his wife anything. The deputies I have dealt with have been great - to him and to me - but then I was molested by a Sheriff's Deputy when I was 11. My father was in law enforcement. Of course, there are good and bad in every place of business. I just want to know if my son is being protected - and if we don't work harder at trying to rehabilitate as many of these people as possible and help them get employment and a place to live when they have "paid their debt to society" - then we all will continue to suffer the consequences - because they will continue to "give up" and out of frustration and despair either commit another crime and go back to jail in which all of we tax payers (which some of them would like to be)- have to continue housing and feeding so many - all people (me and each of you) have to have second chances and sometimes more. I know I have - all of us have whether we've been incarcerated or not. Many have commited crimes and gotten away with it -and many innocent have been convicted and served long sentences. We must continue to try and sort out the good from the bad in law enforcement and try to help each other in all situations. I just want to know if my son is okay and they tell me when I call they don't know and can't find out because there are too many. Wonder why our jails are so overcrowded. We don't need to build more jails; we need to fix more people. Please 940 and others come up with a system to let families know something - my son and others are supposed to be "innocent until proven guilty" - he nor I even know what he's there for. But the system needs to stop mistreating the families and let us at least know that our family members are not being abused. Of course, it's not supposed to be a vacation in jail - unless you're a convicted senator or congressman - but I thought we outlawed "cruel and inhumane" treatment in jail. Please someone at 940 let me know if my son is okay - he doesn't sound like it on the phone and he sounds scared to death and can't tell me anything because everyone is right there "listening." And of course who can afford a lawyer? Only the rich can; and the public defenders have too large a case load to do an adequate job for anyone - innocent or not. We need to fix this. Maybe review why there were less incarcerated in years past and compare why the change? I think I have an idea about that. We, The People need to step up to the plate and start "fixing"/"heali ng" ourselves, our families, our communities and our country - otherwise, there will continue to be more criminals, more crimes in every facet of life and business and the few paying for it all - can't. We need to help people get back on their feet, their lives changed, and then we help everyone. Oh, how I want to know if my son is okay. Just want to know ....

My soon to be wife have been harassed by the whole justice system after she tried to open her mouth when she was taped by a correctional official. Her claim was denied because of statue of limitations, but she was afraid to file while she was still in there. The whole justice system has been giving her unrealistic tasks so they could violate her parole. After she had surgery they finally did. I think that tn should be investigated on the justice system for allowing such violations to continue. She filed the charges on the official that worked at the same jail. Her mother asked for her to be move to another for the fear of her well being and they denied the request. Does any person in the justice system have any common sense or do the just enjoy destroying a person's life?
