Don't back down SV Teachers. These big mouths who comment and think they know it all have NO idea what teachers put up with due to parental incompetence.

Spoken like a teacher! GET REAL & GET BACK TO WORK!! |

The union mentality:
I want I will take it from you I will justify it in my own mind any way I see fit I don’t want to do it It’s not my fault I have no choice I’ve been forced to do it Hauntingly similar to the words of an addict. Most individuals that feel this way are forced or strongly encouraged to seek counseling. Unions need to be busted in this country. Strikes are hostage situations. In the case of striking teachers, they are holding our children hostage for their personal gain. Anyone who walks off their job should be replaced. |

A salesman complaining about a decrease in pay from one year to the next .... that happens if you have a really good year and you don't reach your target the next. Calculate off of your base pay ... not with incentive!! Atleast you have an incentive laddened pay scale ... as most of Americans do not.

Saucon Valley Teachers are the highest paid teachers in Northampton County.
These are the figures for 2006-2007. Add the raises they got last year to figure their 2007-2008 (last year’s) salaries. Then look at what they are demanding now. http://php.app.com/PAteachers0607/results.php... |

Saucon Valley School District Facts:
G. What is our current level of educational spending? We have the highest per pupil spending in Northampton County. We are the only school district in the county to be spending at the amount recommended by the Costing Out Study authorized by the state legislature. H. What is our current tax rate? We have the highest tax rate in Northampton County. I. Have we fairly compensated our teachers? We pay our teachers better than any other school district in Northampton County. If we take our current list of teachers and pay them according to the 2008-09 salary schedule of any other school district in the county, they would receive less. If they accept our salary proposal they will remain the highest paid teachers in the county. |

All of the figures have been skewed as much as they ever will be.
All of the negotiating is done. The offer is there. Accept it or move on. It does not matter how many times you ask. It does not matter how many times you demand. It does not matter if you take your ball and go home. It does not matter how long you walk the picket line. The answer is still, NO. No more. Accept the offer or move on. The respect has already been lost. For everyday that you remain on the picket line, the animosity will build. Accept the offer or move on. |

Get off the streets. Get back in the classrooms.
Accept the offer or move on. |

“If a doctor, lawyer, or dentist had 40 people in his office at one time, all of whom had different needs, and some of whom didn't want to be there and were causing trouble, and the doctor, lawyer, or dentist, without assistance, had to treat them all with professional excellence for nine months, then he might have some conception of the classroom teacher's job.” ~Donald D. Quinn

while i agree teachers should not go on strike, i also agree that they desrve more money. Anonymous.. you go on every thread and post the same nonsense word for word. its getting old. unless you are a teacher in one of these districts, or have a student in one of these districts, please leave your neo nazi attitude at the door. |

The Morning Call piece says it all. There are four school districts in our region (all in Bucks and Montgomery counties) with average teacher salaries above $70,000. There are just TWO with averages between $60,000 and $70,000. SURPRISE!!! They are BOTH on strike (Souderton as well as Saucon Valley). So the true fact that Saucon Valley is the highest average in Lehigh and Northampton Counties is, frankly, irrelevant to the union.
What the union is seeking is to raise the ENTIRE SCALE for ALL school districts in ALL neighboring counties. The fact that they picked the ONLY TWO in a whopping $11,000 range (the only two between $59,500 and $70,500) to BOTH go on strike AT THE SAME TIME betrays their strategy. So to the people on BOTH sides of the Saucon strike (and Souderton) it is unfortunately not about either of you. Think about THAT when you decide how you wish to feel. |

Tenth day in a row posting this ... glad to see your copy and paste still works. I see you have alot to offer this discussion.

We could also point out how teachers would have no clue and would be dangerous if they attempted to do what a doctor, dentist, or lawyer does, but there is no point to such completely irrelevant comparisons. Completely different jobs, different training, different education levels, different stresses.

These teachers are living in La La Land. Get back to work already and stop being so greedy. People all over the place are losing their jobs, the economy is in shambles, people are losing their homes and you greedy idiots want big pay raises that will result in tax increases. You should just be glad that your jobs aren't affected by the economy, you're not in danger of getting laid off, you hold the taxpayers hostage every year with your ridiculous demands. Then you retire with a fat benefit and retirement package. NOBODY is worth all that at the expense of the taxpayers. You're teachers, not brain surgeons. Get over yourselves already.

Oh yes, the teachers need to deal with a nice/comfortable building in which to teach. Free periods during the day. Do they have to walk thru medal detectors? Do they have children pulling weapons on them? No I don't think so. So there job comes with some strees whose doesn't. like the old saying if you can't stand the heat get out of the kitchen. School board stand firm. |

“Greetings!” Since: Oct 07
Lehigh Valley ISP: Allentown, PA |
They don't have to walk through metal detectors yet, but I'm sure it will come. Afterall, Columbine wasn't a center city school. Teachers have stress, the stress that I am very thankful I don't have to deal with on a daily basis. |
|||
Let me guess the children at Saucon are just so horrible that the teachers can't handle it. |
