now alls ima saying is that board member Miller and potty mouth mom Stephi B agree that the more you "stirr it, the worse it stinks" and Miller and Stephi B are proving that those raising the biggest stinks in our public school board meetings are the one who get the most attention and applause from the jeering and sneering section of the SEA pep squad.....now that's alls ima saying, except for the real truth that ima knowing....

Too long "just sitting on the board" DON MILLER, doing nothing that's right for our school children and community, year after year, is truly the only board member that has to go. It's only a matter of time... tick tock....

Thank you, Dr. Kohls, for a job well done.
Because of your continuing good efforts to bring about much needed changes in our school district, Springboro is growing stronger as a great community in which to live, work, and go to school!

Actually, I'll vote for them again. I'm for lower taxes. If you are concerned about your kids....MOVE! sound familiar? Just what you school nazis told us years ago when every levy asked for passed. Get over it, those days are gone.
Totally agree. Shortly after moving here the NFSS levy ladies left a flyer on the door to my home reminding me of my "duty" to say yes "the first time to school levies" because "parents should trust their kids' best interest to the experts of the SEA."
He!! yes, pass the levy... was the outcry of union/community activists as they expounded largely from the bully pulpit, presided upon at that time by BOE president, Don Miller.
This red-faced flock of angry-birds, wearing their big blue crew t-shirts distorting biblcal scripture, "where your treasure is," rose with a thunderous applause to the proclamation by the speaker that the old people in this community were the greedy ones refusing to share their social security paychecks with the Springboro Education Association's promotion of increased property taxes on our homes, so that union employees could get increased salaries and increased health care benefits.
And of course, our highly paid school district administrators joined in the bashing of Springboro citizens, hopeful that many of their double dipping salaries would increase, at the expense of senior citizens who are paying school taxes out of their dwindling retirement savings.
One of Boro's own "beloved" double dipping school administrators actually got so caught up in this creepy cult-like attitude of the union insiders that the union owns this community, that one of the school district voters attending from "the outside" was asked to "please leave!"
That's the way it was BEFORE Springboro school district citizens (who refused to be taxed out of their homes and "just leave") rallied throughout this community to elect Dr. Kelly Kohls as our first "reform-minded" school board representative, who took office in Janaury 2010.
Totally agree.... the best thing we can do to strongly support our school children's future education, and our Springboro community as a whole, is to RE-ELECT KELLY KOHLS! We've only just begun AND we won't back down.

Finding ways to methodically advance student achievement should always be everyone’s goal. Implementing academic reforms will, for example, reduce the present need for so many of our students needing to take college remediation courses. This, of course, will immediately translate into money saved for parents whose students attend Ohio’s colleges. And, in order to meet this challenge of higher academic quality, the current school Board of Education and District are, or already have plans to, invest heavily in technology, professional development for teachers, new textbooks, as well as new computers for every teacher, plus much more.

All this being said, there is a lot of work yet to be done to assure you (parents) that we will strive to do more than meet the minimum state requirements. The current Board of Education is dedicated to being advocates for every student striving to push the bar higher than other districts.

Some say there’s no need to change because our district achieved an “excellent with Distinction” rating for our most recent school year. But we live in a world that is dynamic, a world of ever-evolving expectations and realities that require our constant attention. What once was an acceptable level of achievement is now a relic of the past that will ill serve our children and our taxpayers in the future.

As parents, we all desire that our children be provided the best we can afford. We constantly challenge our children with the hope that doing so will help prepare them for the world and better lives than we ourselves enjoy. We are also highly cognizant of the importance of true learning and greatly value education and the promise of what it may bring.

Everyone in the school community has more in common than they have differences. Let us meld that commonality to push forth a better school system than we enjoy today. We owe it to our children. Let us come together to push for real achievement and higher standards that we currently demand.

Too long just "sitting" on the board, Don Miller is the only board representative that should go. And the right time for Don Miller to go is NOW on a voluntary basis; OR at the polls in November, 2013.

Another term of non-service from "status quo business as usual"
board member Don Miller, is not the right direction toward strong schools and strong community in Springboro.

Don Miller could serve our community well by stepping down right away; since he is the bully in chief on board, to whom the babb and bowman blabbers address their grandstanding ridicule toward the children first board members, at public school boasrd meetings. Don Miller's conflict of interest is that he is not on board with our new children first budgeting philosophy; and the union/community activists are pushing him to fight with them to reverse the board's new philosophy to the failing policies of the adult first SEA philosophy.

Don Miller has wasted taxpayers time and money since the new BOE majority took office Janaury 2012. He supported Scott Anderson/Scott Maney in their attempts last March to intimidate and publicly ridicule the newly elected board representatives into resigning; so that the union school board candidates could be appointed. When that failed to happen, Scott Anderson resigned because he would not serve our board's new philosophy of children first budgeting; but Don Miller stayed on and continues undermining and bullying his adults first agenda in support of union activisim, voting against our children first.

While I do not begrudge Kelly Kohls here education I do see the polished articulate demeanor of David Petroni as a salve to the wounds of this community. David Petroni is an excellent speaker. He is well versed in facts. David Petroni should not be given second class citizen status any longer. He should have been president elect.
Did Kelly Kohls campaign with the "Children's First Budgeting" concept? This was the brain child of David Petroni. Kelly Kohls ran on a platform where she boasted her years of experience as an educator. David Petroni has testified before the great state of Ohio to encourage opportunities of revenue in our schools. He thinks outside the box with a business minded view that educators do not possess through practical or classroom experiences. Why then was he not chosen to lead our schools as president?
Just disgusting ignorance posted on this blog; not even original, but straight from Alinsky's union bible "rules for radicals."

I don't think Kelly Kohls has the same experience as Mr. Petroni. Mr. Petroni is a successful business and family man. He has faithfully served the communities in which he has lived. Mr. Petroni is performing his civic duties by tirelessly investing his expertise in revamping the Springboro Schools. Mr. Petroni has expertly and successful managed his personal finances. He does not have any ties to education. Kelly Kohls had a very public personal bankruptcy. As a former educator her views may be considered a conflict of interest. Mr. Petroni is deserving of leading the board of education. His creditials and success speak for themselves. Why then is Mr. Petroni not the president elect? If the people speak the elected officials need to react. Who do you think is better qualified? I believe we should put the children first and vote Mr. David Petroni.
Ignorance in Springboro (such as longhauler projects) is not bliss... just destructive to our children's future and expensive to our Springboro families and taxpyaing homeowners.
There is only one Springboro Board of Education representative, status quo good old union first Don Miller, who votes against putting the children first.
Educated Springboro parents and school district voters who support putting our children first with our school tax dollars, should vote out of office board member Don Miller, who votes "conflict of interest" AGAINST our children first, in his protection of the SEA self-interest in gaining more power and control over our children's classroom education and our children first budgeting plan.

Casting aside the longhauler attempt to ridicule this board member's financial expertise; (just too foolish to waste time addressing)

It's high time that the Springboro Education Assoiciation of union thugs educate themselves to the big truth: Our Springboro Schools

Does the OEA encourage teachers to indoctrinate Ohio’s Kids?
Is the OEA monthly newsletter to teachers posted on public websites?
Do we parents know what our children are learning from teacher unionists, who believe along with the OEA, that teachers should not only be members of a labor union, but also should indoctrinate our children on unionism?

As the OEA dictates teachers in their monthly newsletter,“It’s essential that they not only be teacher unionists, but teachers of unionism. We need to create a generation of students who support teachers and the movements of teachers for their rights.”
How about they focus on just teaching our kids the core skills they will need in math, reading, writing, and science? How about they leave their political ideology and unionism out of the classroom? As the National Assessment of Educational Progress results show, more than half of America’s 8th graders fail basic civics tests. Clearly, our teachers have enough to do already.

The OEA needs to keep its left-wing views outside of the classroom and its hands off our kids’ curriculum. This type of indoctrination isn’t a surprise coming from a group with a leader who once boldly admitted it was more concerned with getting more power than the best interest of our kids.

In case anyone missed the board meeting last week, all of the above is categorically INCORRECT.
They are cutting one social studies elective because the teacher is retiring, I believe,

Just read in the March 7, 2013, issue of Springboro Sun "School employees agree to negotiations..."

Let's all shout out Thank You and Applause Applause to our SEA and SCEA for showing a willingness to work cooperatively to negotiate labor agreements that are financially sustainable...

"Because the Board of Education is elected to represent the community, "we will discuss the importance of transparency in the negotiations process for the benefit of the entire Springboro School community with the SEA and SCEA," said Jim Rigano, board vice president. "It is our hope that, with the assistance of the SEA and SCEA, a negotiations process that is open and transparent can be agreed upoin and fully communicated to the community."
