The father and stepmother of two children killed in an apartment fire could face criminal charges.

The father shouldn't have sought custody just to leave them alone at 3 AM.

Yes, they should be criminally charged on multiple levels - child neglect, involuntary manslaughter, etc.

I really feel for the mother of these children.

Ypu! That is why the system needs change. Don't let a child egt killed before someone steps up and tells a parent that they are doing a lousy job. These kids need to be treated with love, compassion, care and a healthy environment. I am not perfect, but my kids come 1st. I haven't had new clothes in God know when, but my kids are the best dressed in town. They are fed, sheltered, and important loved. They are my life,(at least until they are out of college.) I guess when I had children, my life wasn't about me and my selfish needs anymore. More parents need to be like that. And furthermore, a little more parental involvement and discipline might keep our kids out of trouble too.

I AGREE WITH YOU ABOUT THE FATHER AND STEPMOTHER. BUT JAIL IS TO GOOD FORBOTH OF THEM , WHAT NEEDS TO HAPPEN IS . I don't know WHY parents would leave children of this age unattended. That is crazy. They need to be prosecuted. That's horrible.

someone needs to ask that dcs worker why she put the kids with the father when she has had a long running time with his brother and his g/f and there kids they was took out of there care and gave to foster home then was took out and gave back then took out again now tell me how someone can get kids when dcs knew all of this before they was given the kids and by the look of that bedroom it has not been cleaned in god knows when how did that pass for them to get them to pretty little babies no one knows but god has them now and now we know they are safe in his arms and now the father and step mother will have face god in the end and tell him why they left them babies alone

I as a taxpayer amd TIRED of this jail garbage for everything known to man. We build jails in this country faster than we build hotels.
We lock up the homeless for sleeping on a bench at the cost to the tax payer of $100 a day.... Tip for you that are not very good at math, we can put them in a Motel 6 for $30 a night, WE SAVE $70.00!!!!

We need to vote out damn near everybody in office out and start over. Make it a requirement you have to pass a BCS (basic common sense) test before you are allowed to run for ANY elected office.
We lay off teachers to build of all things, jails. Why? Becuase the (in their minds) greater than thou's think everybody on the face of the planet with the excption of them of course, needs to be in one.
You are free in this country to say what you want inlike China, or middle east countries, other than that, we aren't any different over here. The government rules and does what ever it dang well pleases.
30% of the people in this country that are in locked up have done nothing more that run acoss a police officer or probation officer somewhere in a bad mood. Who does this cost? Who do you think it cost?
Dickson County is getting ready to spend $18 MILLION dollars to expand it's jail and the majority in there (per the Dickson Herold)are in there for trival things. What's wrong with community service? Well I have an answer for that. Community service saves the county in public works but loses money for the county because they don't spend near on public works what they make off the jails.
So the next time you go to raise hell about your taxes going up remember where a BIG chuck of it is going and what it's going for. THEN start voting out the idiots that love to pass trival laws just so they can tell their grandchildren one day "I'm the one that passed this or that law".

Howard, I think you missed the whole point of this story. It wasn't just that they left a coffee pot on, or a candle warmer plugged in and their apt. caught on fire. There were TWO CHILDREN WHO DIED in that fire. Last time I checked, that was a crime and worthy of jail time. Maybe someone should lock you in an apartment, stuff you in a crib, and leave you to die when the place burns down too.

if they would have gave her a drug test today , they would have found drugs . cause she was popping pills with some guy at the funeral home
