Hello! No matter if the company went out of business or not, according to MSHA the company is only required to keep your records for 5 years underground (Part 48) and 3 years surface (Part 46) only after an employee has left the company. The rest can be destroyed. I am not sure as of now, if a company files paperwork online with MSHA if MSHA will keep information for a longer period of time. But just until here recently the only documents you got were hand written mostly.

If you have been out of the mining industry for more than a few years then you would actually need to have your training over again somewhere. You can look onto the MSHA.gov website and look in the 30CFR under either part 48 underground or Part 46 surface and it will give you details of what is required of training.

I worked in WV as a coal miner for about 12 years but have been out of it since 1982. I am interested in a job in this mine. I last worked for Peabody, but they show no record of me. And, the one before that has none either. Have you or anyone that you know of had this problem caused by the buying/selling and going out of business of coal mines? If so, how did you or they resolve it.
I hope someone can help me.

Be nice for it to go union
The union is dead. The old coal miners who use to work at Peabody's Alston #3,#4 and Walton Creek help seal the fate of union mines in Western KY.

The Coal operator's of today would rather shut a mines down and seal it than be union. I use to be a union miner at Alston #3 in 1978 and it was stupid of the things the miners would do to get out of working.
If 80% of the union work force had worked 1/2 as hard as they did to get out of work and showed up for work, Alston #3,#4 would still be running coal today.

Big Run is in Alson #3 and #4 coal seam right now,
between the two mines. NO UNION and runningh strong.

Daily Horoscope for December 5

Taurus

This is a day for turning your attention to your finances, especially if you're currently working on the budget for domestic improvements or changes. Talk to the other people concerned and really listen to what they're saying. They'll have some great insights. It will be far more productive to work as a harmonious team rather than as warring factions.
