The admissions committee will have a difficult job. There will be so many worthy applicants. Best of luck to all who apply and to those who must choose among a highly qualified pool of applicants.

Let us show them the potential that we have in our hometown and the beneficial impact of having a medical school on the border.
The benefits are enhanced health care on the border by having local Doctors, improved medical care, access to quality care, and devotion we as a race,Hispanic, have for our people to care for others.

Resident Medical students who upon graduation from the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center who would agree to serve their first four years as physicians in the state of Texas, should have their medical education paid for by the State of Texas. The Medical board would decide where in Texas they are most needed and where they would serve the community the best.
This would be a win win situation for the State of Texas and our future doctors. In my opinion this would be tax money wisely invested.
Thanks

Keep educational standards high, grant free education to those who will serve in the poor areas of Texas and increase class sizes to about 100 a year.

Once more keep standards high or the medical school will become a mexico university

What a stupid comment. If you check with UTEP you will find out that students that come from Mexico will have higher test scores in math than student that graduate from local high schools. Most not all of them have to take remedial classes before taking regular college classes. There are several Americans studying medicine in Universities all across Mexico not because they have a LOWER standard or curriculum they study there because it’s cheaper. Even paying foreign student tuition it is several thousand dollars cheaper. Although I agree that if you offer free tuition to help in rural areas is a great Idea, wait Mexico has been doing that for decades. When I have an appointment at the VA the dermatologist is from India, the Cardiologist is from Mexico and my regular doctor is from Cuba. That is the reality you will have to face when you leave the service Soldier First. Pray that they had a good education in their country of origin.

I really wonder how they will select the creme de la creme 40 applicants. I hope it's not a who-you-know game for the elite in EP. That could mean all of Mr. Foster's cronies kids get first dibs. Go figure.

The nearly 100 million raised for endowments and expected continued support from the community will ensure this Medical School will be a top tier school within 15-20 years.

It is going to take that long to become a top tier school then monies have been wasted. The first crop of graduates should be the initial indicator in how well the school will be. The precentage of dropouts in the first 2 years will be an idicator of quality of education being provided.

I would support a bond to increase my property taxes to bring in the top medical instructors in the nation.
