Anyone know why they landed the choppa and airlifted the person out if the injuries were not life threatning? The chopper stayed on the ground at St' Judes parking lot for half an hour.
Newsday:
"Suffolk County police are investigating an early Thursday morning shooting in Mastic Beach in which at least one man was injured, a police spokeswoman said.
The shooting at a Monroe Drive address was reported at 1:43 a.m., the spokeswoman said. The injuries did not appear to be life-threatening, police said.
She had no other details but said police were still at the scene at around 6 a.m"

AWESOME! Seems like we live in the same place before we "became" a village. When you actually NEED Code enforcement, they are no where to be found.(I bet they learned about it on Topix also)

Code enforcement are not the police so why would you NEED them to be around?

Hello? Shot as in shot with a gun. What do you think village code is going to do? Call Garys pirates to disarm the shooter?

Exactly! Why do we NEED them at all!? They don't DO anything! They aren't the police, but they patrol like they are. They can't stop any crimes, but yet waste gas and man hours "patrolling" the streets like they can. And here we still have shootings that can't be stopped. So HOW is it better now than before we were a village? I see no change, just more "leaders" stealing our tax dollars for their own profit.

Let's see, 3 masked men break into an occupied "cottage" in the back of a house on Monroe Dr (yes it is MBV)... What do you suppose they were looking for? F'ing hellhole. But, it's a great place to snatch up another rental property. I really like HiRanch's because you can fill them up with people (and trust me, I don't discriminate).

i don't know, they think they are police. they sit in parking lot at baptist church on whittier and neighborhood every night. why are they there? they can't give moving violations. they are usually just sleeping. if you ask them, they tell you that they are watching the neighborhood. really? nothing is going on there. if they want to "watch the neighborhood, then maybe they should drive around the NEIGHBORHOOD. what are we paying these clowns for anyway? how many codes do you think are being violated at night? deck building after dark? illegal pool construction at midnight?

I think having more than one code guy on duty at night is a complete waste of money. Someone should ask how many violations have been issued after 6pm. Would love to ask, but I am always up gary's ass (according to some on here anyway).

And back on topic...this home invasion (likely a structure without a C/O) is most likely a drug deal gone bad. Why was the address of the property not posted?

The village is a total waste of time the scpd doesnt care about actual crime n code enforcement is only around to raise money 2 keep there new jobs...i live in the village tell my why when I call 911 to report my neighbors house being broken into the police never show? Even when I tell them a single older women resides there! That actually happened about 3 weeks ago!!! My grandparents moved here from the city my father was raised here...my sisters used it as a starter home and now currently I am using it for the same reason with that being said its sad to see such a nice area with so much history go down the drains!

Its time for change because I dont want to take justice into my own hands but if there is a need for police I now know not to bother...and I will protect my family even if.that means using deadly force with the weapons I legally own! I bet scpd would come if that happened god forbid!

The police didn't cause the problem. This town is full of losers (like brady..) who just don't try to make it better. Garbage everywhere, no pride of ownership. The one's who do care are losing hope. I am just being honest and oops...

Of course a lot of people here don't have pride of ownership because they don't OWN anything. They don't give a damn about how or where they live. I do believe that everyone deserves a place to live but I feel very strongly that my quality of life should not be ruined because some low-class people could care less.

Slumlords are the problem. They rent to anyone who gets a check. welfare sec8 disability. These people get into the house and reck the neighborhhod. They rent rooms to gang members and fill the yard with pitbulls. I have seen this.

And I think brady is right that the robbery was over drugs. village should inspect the cottage make sure it is legal.

the police are pissed at the village. village officials have been rude and nasty to police (way to go, morons) code enforcement actually give the police a hard time. this is not good for mastic beach. in fact, this is the reason that they are now slow to respond. go to a meeting and complain. stop complaining on this site and go say it in person. of course, they will have a smooth explanation and say everything is great here in the village. but you voted for it. you refused to get the FACTS. now you're stuck with it
