FYI - the work being done across from the school is TOWN land and the TOWN is putting in a parking lot. The TOWN does not require a permit from the Village.
oh. So the town trumps the village? Huh

Just what the kids need before they go to school, more sugar. They are still not doing anything to help on Neighborhood Rd.
This village is going no where, they have no idea what they are doing.
Time to dissolve this thing. This is not the village we voted for.
The kids can get all the sugar they want from 7-11 and the bagel store. If your worried about kids and sugar, try getting their parents to feed them right at home.

Another thing. Plans for building the parking lot and the Dunkin Donuts preceded the village. The MBPOA and their late President came up with the plan that you're so quick to condemn and blame the village for.

And if you want to complain about Neighborhood Road, check with Brookhaven Town. They're the ones that spent 1.5 million dollars and left it in its current condition.

Finally, if you really did vote for the village, then it's a shame you've become so negative in such a short time. It took dozens of years for this community to decline, and it will take time and patience to recover.

The village is doing a lot of good things, and this community is far better off now, than we were as a hamlet. I could list dozens of examples for you, but I don't think anything will change your mind.

There's only one thing that's absolutely certain - this village is here to stay.

So, once again...its the MBPOA fault and the TOB fault. Play a different tune that ones getting old.
I can list dozens of services that were cut once the village took over, but I doubt you are smart enough to understand any of them. I dont think people have a problem with the VILLAGE, we have a problem with the current leaders and their rampant corruption and how they demand permits from SOME and not others. Like their friends.
Face it, Gary and his buddies are only in it to stop the marinas from opening and to line their pockets as fast as they can before they are cuffed and hauled away.

It just goes to show how nothing you say is correct. You should change your screen name. Your reputation as a missinformed school parent is already known to all who read your posts.
Besides, it seems like your working overtime to attack the village and defend the MBPOA. I wonder if your a director. Maybe a new one who's trying a little too hard to fight for the team?
wrong. actually i am a boater; not a board member. i see what mbpoa has done for the community in the 30 years that i have lived in this area. i also see that the village is giving jobs to relatives and hassling old people. i wanted this village to be a way for the residents to improve this community. that has not happened. i see nepotism. i see more renters than ever. i don not see an improved neighborhood road. i do not have more input in my neighborhood. i see arbitrary rules that are followed in an arbitrary fashion. so if it seems like i am defending the mbpoa, i am. they are not a government. they do not spend my tax dollars. they did not promise me anything but a boat slip, and they delivered on that promise. i cannot say as much for the village that i voted for.

i don't have a problem with the dunkin donuts. i only had a problem with the fact that a permit was given by the village after they asked for an environmental impact study just two weeks ago. you can check the minutes (oh, you can't they are never posted in a timely manner) or you can go to the long island advance's april 18th issue and read all about it.

i do not know anyone who is far better of now except gary.

Hell, I just want to know where the 5 grand for the signs are, orrrrr where the hell are the signs?
One simple question with no answer.
Gary, where are the signs or the money?
If they are finished, I hope it doesn't cost us any more tax dollars when our "highway dept." installs them.

Wrong. The Dunkin Donuts has not been given a permit for anything. In fact, their building plans have not even been approved by the village yet.

The only construction taking place is the parking lot and I'm sure they only proceded with construction once all approvals were in place.

Also, you now claim you don't have a problem with the Dunkin Donuts, yet in your previous post you complained they were going to give too much sugar to the kids.

If you have so many complaints then come to the village meetings. They let everyone speak their mind and everyone can speak as many times as they like.

If you don't like Gary or anyone else on the board, run for office or back someone who's willing to try.

yes, we all see how much the board listens to someone that they disagree with. What's the point of speaking to the board when they already have made up their minds. D you honestly think if everyone came out to complain about them getting salaries now they would listen? Give me a break! They do what they want, for who the want, when ever they want and to hell with the rest. Can't wait for the DA to get involved. And yes, they are getting involved.

i never said anything about giving sugar to kids. that was a different poster. i speak all the time at board meetings. as for them letting anyone speak their minds, they let some people speak and others are interrupted and belittled and yelled at.

even it the permit was given by the town of brookhaven it still is supposed to be posted. all of the other construction projects have a posted permit/sign.

we were told they were at his house. That's not an"answer" or even a proper excuse. I want to know where they are or where the money is. If he can't produce the signs, show us where the money is.
Why is that so hard? I hope Gary isn't lying about the money.

I've been at almost every meeting and the board has never treated anyone like you described in the quote above.

You've suceeded in convincing me that you and the few other village haters on topix aren't worth the effort to refute all the fabricated crap you guys dream up to falsely attack the village.

Spew your BS. Nobody's paying attention.

The village board went over the plans at a meeting a few months ago. Carol reminded the board that the plans were the same ones that the town turned down in 2007 and why they turned them down.
The village board said they would do a study on this and have a hearing on the Dunkin Donuts.
From what we hear the Village approved it.
Also the MBPOA was not in favor of it back in 2007 because they though it would be a bit much for that intersection and not safe for the school children crossing the street.
It was suggested by the MBPOA that it would be better to put it on Neighborhood Rd.

OK, here is a scenario, go to a village meeting. The board wants to discuss salaries and allows for input from the taxpayers on the issue. Taxpayers comment for or against as many times as they want.

OK, here is the reality. What appears to be a violation of open meeting laws, the members discussed salaries behind the taxpayers back. Have a village meeting and they vote for and approve the salaries. case closed no input from the taxpayers.
