The only "good" thing that came about with last nights meeting was the information the village lawyer gave us. And that was no mater what a deed may say, no mater what the residents may want, no mater what Victor Zeleny may say about the village not being able to sell off portions of the waterfront if they own them, it will take ONLY 3 TRUSTEES TO DECIDE OR CHANGE ANY ZONING OR DOCUMENT TO VOTE YES AND MAKE IT LAW. That means that even though all the trustees keep saying "we won't change the zoning of the waterfront" "we can't sell off pieces of land".... All of that can be changed to what 3 trustees want. THREE!
3 people decide what gets reasoned and what doesn't. And if any of you say this is a lie, stop it. We know the truth. YOUR lawyer said it so it must be true. Or are all of you calling your own lawyer a liar?

Once again Maura is out there leaving out the one thing that makes it impossible to develop our waterfront.....
THE DEC!!! The DEC has the almighty power over the waterfront not the 3 village trustees, not the residents, not the Mayor only the DEC, and they are never allowing the development of the Mastic Beach waterfront.
Maura, drop the scare tactics and come up with something to really run on or get out of the race.

Again we hear from our friend from East Moriches... This time being a "concerned resident". You try to make points that YOU think it is the villages intention to somehow sell it off or to make it into a Coney Island amusement pier. Face it, nobody believes you. The other poster hit the point on the head...NY DEC will never let the waterfront of MBV be developed and will only begrudgingly allow any repairs or maintenance near the water.

You seem to think everybody should be able to vote on every issue you deem important. But, you are right it only takes 3 of the 5 elected officials to carry a motion. That's why they have an uneven number, so ties will be overridden by the Mayor. That is what the officials were voted in to do.

Now, let's talk about the administrator of the website "issues with MBV". Your first rule is no abuse, name calling, bullying or downright rude posts.

OK I get that there are always more than 2 sides to an issue.

So, reading this blog with an open mind I found this:
YOU called the village officials trolls because they don't answer your comments. And then you say they act all BAD ASS! Nothing rude there!

And then I read someone declared that a person employed by the village is a GOON. Name calling?

So, you got your panties in a knot because village people don't want to participate in your ego trip Facebook blog. You are a faceless blogger who violates their own rules as long as it perpetuates your anti-village agenda.

I have respect for any resident who posts a comment using their name, but until you put your name on it, I hope nobody from the village responds to your opinionated rag.

we have already seen how the elite 3 can change zoning, they did it for their friend at unicorn motors. If it's impossible to develop because of the DEC, why is the village wasting all this money on a lawsuit to get the waterfront? All the residents can walk along the shore front already, we don't need DEC permission, so why is the village trying so desperately to get control of it? I don't believe for one minute that there isn't a "plan" for the waterfront that the curent trustees aren't telling us about. And as we have seen, the village could care less what the DEC says. The illegal fill placed on Rivera by Gary's nephew has proving that. The DEC wanted them to remove it, the village refused.
So no, I don't believe you. The THREE trustees do what they want, when they want without the input from the residents. That's why we are still stuck with those ugly street signs that no one wanted. Gary wanted them, so now we are stuck with them. Local government at its finest.

youre just upset that no one from the "yes village" side is smart enough to start a blog about how great the village is. I know, I know, the village isn't, so it would be a very short blog. But still. Until someone bright enough to actually start a blog about how great the village is, we are stuck with what the general population wants. And that would be sites that rip this village apart because of all the nepotism and incompetence.
So Brady, start your own blog if you can. Until then, deal with it.

i believe that what the village said was that "most" of the waterfront cannot be developed. that is a qualified answer. that means that some of it can/will be developed if the village gets their hands on it. someone is quietly buying up available property that adjoins the waterfront. we are not stupid. why is there a section for seawalls and bulkheading in our grant proposals?

Why is the village suing to get the waterfront...because it is their legal obligation to see to it that the deed is honored. They represent all the residents not a small handful of club members.
When the village obtains the rights to the waterfront there will be $$$$$ to repair, rebuild and replenish the waterfront to what it once was. The DEC will allow the village to put back what was once a true Beachfront community, and there will be grant money to do it (if the judge decides in time)
Under the stewardship of the MBPOA the beaches all washed away, the docks are a disaster and the "MEMBERS ONLY" signs are proof that ALL the residents do not have access to the waterfront.

Violets Cove can be developed because it was and still is commercial property.

Dear Concerned...

I don't need to start a pro-village blog. But, when someone purports to represent a neutral point of view, and even makes an anti-abuse rule, which they violate by calling officials badass and goon, I will voice my opinion.

I also laughed at the resident who complained that the village code phone number was not being answered at 2:30AM.

With absolutely no respect to the "poet", you have been unable to show it, one thing for sure, more snow we'll endure, and MORE TROLLING FROM YOU for sure.

What petitions were thrown out? This must be just another rumor. The candidates would be all over the place if this was true.

first off, concerned citizen isn't Maura. Not everyone on topix is Maura. If you believe that, you're an idiot.
Second. How does Maura's EMPTY houses that she rents takes away money from the residents of MB? That's one of the stupidest statements I've ever heard in my life.(If an EMPTY house equals "slumlord" in your mind, then Gary is a slumlord as well)
Third. How many DRUNKS are working for the village? Go to a meeting and smell the breath of our "leaders". But don't stand to close if you don't want a ticket driving home. How many employees of the village are drug tested regularly? Because there are quit a few that look drunk and high at work. And you can't tell me that the person who drove the line truck wasn't a little tipsy. I mean, did you see that line down neighborhood rd? WOW! And if they weren't, they should be fired for gross incompetence. So in conclusion, you're an as&.

again, not Maura. Explain how Maura's empty house "takes money away from the residents" of MB. That has to be one of the stupidest statements ever uttered. And you guys have uttered a lot of stupid statements. But please, HOW does having a rental, one that is empty, take money away from the residents?i would think the leaders of MB LOVES her two rentals. Not only does she pay taxes, but she also GIVES MB rental fees. Isn't that why the village LOVES renters so much? For all the fees they collect?
