Suffolk to appeal judge's work status bill ruling

Suffolk legislators on Tuesday elected in a closed session vote to appeal a state Supreme Court judge's decision to block the county's worker status bill, but their decision is likely to draw another lawsuit.

What is so hard to understand about illegal and legal? There should be no amnesty for those that knowingly broke laws to get here, continue to break laws (possess/obtain fake ID's, ID Theft, not paying their FAIR share of taxes)

The employers should be fined and/or lose licenses, the illegal aliens should be rounded up and deported.

This country was founded on LEGAL immigration. Please don't tell me they do jobs no on else will do, YES, they do AT low wages because no LEGAL citizen would do it for thos slave wages. IF they were not here, guess what, wages would rise to a realisitic number. I washed dishes when I was 15, I mowed lawns as well.

It doesn't matter if they are not legalized, what matters is they are working for the US and boosting our economy. We all need to rally around them and support them. Day laborers are averaging $100 per day. You call that low wages? The problem is our immigration system needs to be overhauled. They can't get here legally. The current system only alows a small number of legal immigrants here each year, way below what our country needs to keep the economy rolling. Do you really think there are thousands of Americans just waiting to mow lawns and wash dishes full time?

Current immigration policy needs to be reformed, not enforced only. It needs to reflect the need in our economy for entry level labor.

Montano never did anything for the County, let alone his dire district, before he turned his personal hissy fit into a 3-ring circus. Check his record--very light on legislation. Notice how he never even argues the facts or merits of the Beedenbender bill. Wonder why? Because he still has delusions of getting elected to the state senate. But outside of his Hispanic Brentwood legislative district, the rest of the senate district is not very pro immigrant. With Foley already annointed to take on Trunzo expect Montano to mount another lame primary. Remember he came is last in a three way primary last time around and he was the only elected on the race. Lindsay is done with Montano but unfortunately, unless the Richie Schaffer and the Dems primary Montano, he will keep his seat and keep causing trouble for the Legislative Dems until he's termed out or they catch him in bed with the proverbial live boy or dead girl. The way Montano sees it, the only way to save the Democratic party is to personally try and destroy it. Thanks a lot Dr. Kevorkian!
