the poster stated that its nick versus carol and gary. this is wrong. it is nick, carol and gary running for two spots. gary does not get an automatic trustee seat. whichever 2 get the most votes are the new trustees.
Gary must go

i think it's really funny that the only person who got their petition for the election in on time is the one you say will be out. i am sure you know by now that none of the visionaries got their petitions in on time. since the petitions were late, the only real candidate will be carol. they broke the election rules and they can't just do whatever they want. they will say it was an honest mistake, but tough nuts. you can't change the rules because you screw up.

what do they do now? will it be a write in campaign? ask questions. don't accept their lies. hold them accountable to the law the way we are held accountable. they were open for business on february 12th. they cannot claim it was a holiday. the legal holiday is on monday january 18th. if it was a holiday for the village, then village hall should have been closed and the meeting should have been moved. since they held their meeting and the village was open for business, it was not a holiday. there are no exceptions to this rule.

another instance of the village not doing proper research and knowing nothing.

No, when I was at village hall two weeks ago I ask them and was told all the papers had to be in by 2/12/2013 so they could be stamped with that date.
I don't know where you came up with the date of the 13th.

that's because jill screwed up and was trying to cover her butt. they didn't get their petitions in on time, and also, the election is run by the board of elections, not jill.

Seriously, if you can't figure out what the election rules are after you have been in office for two years, how can we expect these people to run a government. No wonder we have no street signs!
Sounds like Meet the Candidates Nights will be simple affairs this year, one chair, one microphone, one candidate! Ya gotta love it.

Filing of Petitions, Acceptances, Authorizations and Declinations

All filings must be filed timely (See the Political Calendar) and in the proper manner at the appropriate board of elections. Pursuant to section 1-106(1) of the New York State Election Law, all papers are required to be filed between the hours of nine A.M. and five P.M. If the last day for filing shall fall on a Saturday, Sunday or legal holiday, the next business day shall become the last day for filing. All papers sent by mail in an envelope postmarked prior to midnight of the last day of filing shall be deemed timely filed and accepted for filing when received, except any documents that are required to be filed with the board of elections of the city of New York must be actually received by such city board of elections on or before midnight of the last day to file any such document. Failure to do so shall be a fatal defect.

No filings will be accepted by facsimile or e-mail.

Candidates must file a certificate of acceptance for nominations made by independent nominating petitions, or if they are named in a designating petition but are not enrolled members of that party. Neither an authorization nor an acceptance is required if the individual is a candidate for a judicial office. A declination must be filed should the candidate decide not to accept the designation or nomination.

in ny state the legal holiday of lincolns birthday is a floating holiday. if your office is open for business on feb 12, then it is recognized on presidents day. since village was OPEN on feb 12, they have to observe it on FEB 18, PRESIDENTS DAY

So I guess we have a "fatal defect" with our village.
Do these people know what they are doing?
