Remember we are a nation of immigrants. Let's also try to respect and understand our current immigrant population who are in the midst of prejudice and persecution and allow our religious values to shine through. We also need to understand that hate starts in the home and we need to teach children that as God has love us we should honor and respect one another for we are all God's children.

Perhaps if our immigration laws were even remotely enforced for the last 2 decades there would not be an environment where there is as much hate as there is.

It is clear that no one deserves to die as this man has, but it is equally wrong to convict 7 people in the media. It is disturbing that there are groups looking to sue their parents as if that would solve anything.

It is ridiculous to blame Steve Levy, Lou Dobbs or anyone that calls for OUR LAWS TO BE FOLLOWED. IF our laws were enforced we would not be being overun with immigrants that seem to take the belief that the US owes them something.

Why should our immigration laws not be enforced? what country on the face of this earth brings in more LEGAL immigrants? Answer...the US. We have laws one should follow and the blatant disresect by many that our immigration laws are somehow not to be followed is where the hate comes in.

While this many was supposedly here on a visa, the simple truth is patchogue and other parts of long island are over-run with ILLEGAL aliens who abuse our laws, selectively want laws enforce if it favors them, drain our tax-base and seem to not want to assimulate and become Americans.

So before people go pointing fingers at Lou Dobbs or Steve Levy for wanting our laws enforced, maybe you can look at La Raza (The Race)...a group of hispanics that if they were white would be called the KKK. Groups like these that do not want immigration laws enforced, that do not want ICE to do their job, do not want OUR borders secured so that there can CONTINUE to be a flood of illegals who in turn dis-respect our laws.

Now, with that said, I will be called racist by many people on here...yet, I find it amusing as I'm not quite sure how illegal became a race. But I imagine since there are no legitimate reasons why we should not enforce our borders then they pull the "RACE" card because they have nothing else.

I agree with Immigration. You can be as racist and bigoted as you want as long as you are hispanic or black. If you are either one of the two, you can threaten and even murder a caucasian person but not be charged with a hate crime because it is acceptable for you to hate caucasians for just the fact of their skin color. This country has bent under the pressure from hispanics who think this country owes them not only a living but a lifestyle most Americans cannot obtain. Immigration is right if the group La Raza were caucasian the media would brand them a hate group but since they are hispanic they are portrayed as "being proud of their culture" and not the arrogant bigots they are. They are suing the parents because they think they found a cash cow that will give them alot of money which is all they care about. The illegals in their community and those who aid them spit on our country and our laws everyday. They know that if they are arrested for anything they can claim racism and the hispanic community will back them up with threats of violence towards non-hispanics. Personally I want the authorities to do their job - secure the borders and expel all illegal aliens to where they snuck in from. Stop spending years on bogus claims of persecution and deport them. And we stop giving into hispanics and make all signs, directions, and box labels in English only. If you come here to live, learn the language. No other country writes signs in any language other than their own.

We are a nation of laws and LEGAL IMMIGRATION. Most of the hispanics on Long Island are here illegally and spitting on our flag, country, values and laws every day. Perhaps while Americans are teaching their children tolerance, the hispanic families should be teaching their children morals as well such as not sneaking across as border of another country and then feeling entitled to steal any service from that government that they want. Illegals get free medical care - Americans don't. Illegals are being treated better than citizens and that is what frustrates alot of people. I do not condone anyone taking the law into their own hands but do not put all the blame at the feet of the American citizen. Perhaps people would not lump all hispanics - legal and illegal - together if the hispanic community did not choose to stand up and say that because the illegals are hispanic they should not be prosecuted and deported. All hispanics I have seen on tv or talked to feel entitled to a certain lifestyle and they think it is the duty of our government and taxpayers to provide it or be called racist. The hispanics come across as entitled and arrogant so naturally there is going to be a backlash. If the hispanic community obeyed our laws, that would help in healing all LEGAL citizens to co-exist.

Calling illegal aliens "immigrants" is an insult to every person who followed the law in coming to the United States.

Filing a lawsuit against the parents of those charged? How stupid is that. Must be some Mexican crap.

Speaking out against illegal immigration - or doing something about it - creates an environment of hate? Only if you keep speaking out and keep yelling out and nobody does a damn thing about it. Open Season down on the border. Arse shots only. I believe that would put a stop to it.

There are few words that can describe the horrible act of purposely hunting innocent people. There is no excuse for those who act like animals. They should be punished to the fullest extent of the law. I do believe your talking about the Muslim terrorists. I'm afraid your buddy BO will let most of them loose to live right here in the good old USA. Why? Because he's a dumb arse.

Steve Levy's nonsense is begining to catch up with him. I am not naive enough to believe he is entirely to blame for the hate motivated murder, but he does share part of the responsiblity. Most of us are familiar with the phrase, "with great power comes great responsibility". Mr. Levy did not understand this concept when upon becoming county executive, launched his self serving crusade against illegal immigration in Suffolk County. He failed to realize that ill advised statements appeal to the weak-minded. This confirms aready non-logical thoughts the ignorant share concerning immigration. Frankly, I am sick and tired of the unecessesary controversy Mr. Levy creates. The Police, college professionals, Albany, and other working people. Where does it end? It SHOULD end with this tragic, and sad waste of a productive human life. "Wake up Steve".

To pollster $4, I say you are a bigoted, racist, and simple minded person. I am Hispanic, collage educated, own my home, and yet most Hispanics, in your opinion, are here illegally?

I don't believe the parents should be sued for the actions of these teens unless they are under the age of 18. Bigotry and hatred begin usually at home - not hanging out with their friends. Culpability if a child is under age is the parents responsibility. This is why parents are sued for entertaining underage kids drinking at their homes, and damages that may occur when/if a teen leaves intoxicated is the parent's fault. A famous cliche - Ignorance is not an excuse!

To the simpleton above stating that this lawsuit is a "Mexican" thing, I would like to ask one question - why are the Jewish Community still receiving war reparations for the Holocaust? Don't see anyone complaining about the hundreds of millions of dollars paid to these people. Could this be a double standard?

What you do not know first hand, as I do, is the amount of racism that permeates our country as a whole. I have had my race used as a reason by former employers as the primary reason why I can't get in the front door of companies I had done business with.

I personally do not care what race a person is - if the teens killed an Arab person because of his race, it is still a hate crime. If a Hispanic kills another because of race, he is just as guilty. The law has to be applied equally for ALL people.

Three months later and Newsday will report on Marcelo's body decomposition and how is mother is dealing with his death. Maybe Newsday can stick a camera in the coffin and get decomposition updates. Imagine if a white person was killed by a minority group; page 20 and you'll never see it again. When I run out of toilet paper, I use Newsday.
