Very sad situation. Perhaps doctors should keep their prescription pad under lock and key from everyone, office staff as well as family members. This happens too often. The husband must be blind if he did not notice she is spaced out too often.

A very sad situation, indeed.

There should be some NY State database created so pharmacists can see the prescriptions being filled by a doctor. If the trend is too frequent based on an individual or type of prescription, the pharmamcist needs to report this to local authorities.

No one is immune from addiction. I feel sorry for all involved. I hope she gets the help she needs and I hope the community rallies around her instead of making her and her husband's practice a laughing stock..

Who first introduced her to this
highly addictive drug, and what were
the circumstances? If a bar tender
is liable for the drunken driver, who
shares responsiblity for the abuser of a legal, but highly addictive
substance? Is it 'easier' to dump
a criminal spouse than a 'merely'
addicted one? Lots of questions need
to be answered, but will likely go
unanswered.

The only thing that separates prescription drug addicts from the people shooting heroin in abandoned buildings is the clothes they wear and the money they have.

They are Wolf's in Sheeps clothes.

If these people were homless, leaning against a wall in an abandoned building instead of lying on a thousand dollar bed NO ONE WOULD INVITE THEM TO DINNER.

I laugh at all the rich drug addict people i know, they are so judgemental of street addicts and don't even realise they are the same thing...with a bigger income.

Doctors are not known for their emotional intelligence. This woman must have a huge amount of pain. Or maybe he is cheap and wouldn't give her any money. Who knows.

You say, I am rich; I have acquired wealth and do not need a thing.

But you do not realize that you are wretched, pitiful, poor, blind and naked. Revelation 3:17
