As horrible as it sounds, I would love to see Saguache die, and become a memory, just like the people who are disappearing in it. God spare the innocent because there are too many guilty in that town. All the kid's parents are drug addicts, wasting away what little money they have on their addictions. Meanwhile the children are so utterly bored that they also resort to drugs because of a "social" attraction. Two people close to me have suffered premature deaths there and observed the absolute inadequacy of the Saguache County Sheriffs Dept.

It is unfortunate that you have such a disapproving perspective of EVERYONE in the town of Saguache because there are some really upstanding people in this community. We are not all drug addicts nor are all of our children. It is exceedingly probable that if you were to scrutinize your own community you would discover the same sort of people you stereotype the residents of Saguache, as a whole, as being. In fact, your local school would probably concur with the statement that drugs have become a National crisis amongst our youth and in our schools. Unfortunately, as much as Brenda was liked by many, it does not negate the reality that she was engrossed in the drug scene of Saguache, this is common knowledge. When you are involved with that sort of people you take many risks, even if her death was not drug related she was still associated with a disreputable group. There is no honor among thieves. That being said, I am no way implying that she incited her own death. I am merely saying that we have an individual responsibility to make positive life choices and when we do not we position ourselves in negative situations, taking unnecessary risk. I mean no disrespect to her family I am just being honest.

Hey Saguache res,
I used to believe that not everyone in Saguache was on drugs, but they proved me wrong when y'all re-elected that sheriff that can't seem to solve a murder. And I believe he knows, but is covering for a friend.

Oh, you are right. It is terrible that Saguache is the ONLY town to have an unsolved murder. The sheriff is not the reason this murder has gone unsolved. It is unsolved because the immoral groups of "friends" she hung out with, who probably have information about what happened to her, do not have the decency to come forward with the information needed to make an arrest. Arrests cannot be made on a suspicion alone you have to have real evidence. Again it boils down to the people she associated with, not the entire residency of Saguache. You obviously do not know some of the terrific people of this community so it is easy for someone like you to make such a nasty uneducated remark. I am sick and tired of people making remarks about everyone in this community because of the group of druggies and criminals, which she was part of, that live in this town. Instead, people need to recognize that her lifestyle put her in a dangerous situation and quit blaming this town. She made the decisions to be a part of that group. No one else made that decision, she did. It is not this community’s fault that she chose the lifestyle she chose. The law-abiding citizens of this community do not deserve this criticism.

I agree that there ae good people in the town,no offense intented. And I know there are some who know what happened, good or bad.But no one has come forward with useful info. All i'm saying is there has to be someone who will step up and pass on info to Pat Crouch w/the CBI.If someone could just put themselves in our shoes and do the right thing

Why is it all of a sudden the SC SO fault. They didn't do these horrible acts. With the resources allowed to them, (which is primarly determined by # of residents and tax payers $) they do what they can. It is difficult to work on a case with no leads. I guarantee any other sheriff elected would not be able to yeild differing results. The leads they did have, they explored. Hints the mass amounts of police activity after that trying to find answers. After that, you can't just go walker texas ranger and get in the face of civillians to find out information. it's against the constitution. I too believe it was drug related, not to say ms. shepard was into that activity. There are a select few within the town who are, and i belive some of her known associates were involved. I believe people wont talk because they are affraid of the one or ones who did it. In reply to all the negativiy surrounding the towns people, there are plenty of great people in saguache. it is very easy to tell who is into what. its a small town it is not hard to figureout. The CBI will not be able to yeild other results concerning this case either. I hate to say it but the case is cold. (Both the heinous murder and Mr. Rusts dissapearance.) God willing, someday somebody will come clean and justice will be able to be served to those responsible. I had also read that there were numerous murders in the area. This is simply untrue. Saguache is safe. yes there are a few bad people in the valley. True to any area. There is a drug problem mainly in the center area stemming down to saguace. Ive always been certain that crestone is big on the drugs too. A select few are in on the game in saguache, and if you want names, just go anywhere in the town and ask. Arminta, Salas, Mathis, Archoleta, with connections to the center area involving illegals involved with gangs. The problem is half of the town is related to at least one of them. i wouldnt be suprised if an individual who has posted here before is related to one of the above mentioned. The police can not do anything untill they have hard evidence. Its not like the movies people

So, what you are saying is that if I wanted to get rid of somebody I should come to your town? There are not enough resourses to solve a murder?!! Is it that or is it like Uncer the sherif from the Sons of Anarchy show??? Is it ok to kill somebody as long as the town has a profit!!?
