We both knew Michael from Elementary school. We didn't really know him but he seemed like a nice and polite kid. Nobody deserves this and this shouldn't have happened and we feel really bad.

Ritarose Kemp was my aunt as Michael was my cousin. It hurts so bad to lose such a great person. She was our familles favorite. She died a hero. Everyone was wondering why she died and Michael didn't due to the fact it hit on his side. We thought about it and realized she did what every mother would do and took her life for her sons. She threw herself on top of Michael at the last minute. She was also an organ donor so not only did she save her sons life but she saved another's. She without a doubt has gone directly to heaven. She'll always watch over us especially Michael. We love you dearly and you will forever be missed.
Michael is doing well. Hes still on life support though they took it down to 25%. We don't know how much head trauma he has yet because it is still to early but the doctors think he'll pull through. He can hear us talking to him and can also feel. The doctors pinched his leg and he pulled them both up to his chest. As of right now he is coma induced. He'll be living with Rick my aunts boyfriend of 12 years.
RIP Auntie Ritarose I love you -

I HAPPENED TO BE THERE RIGHT AFTER THE ACCIDENT. WE DID WHAT WE COULD TO SAVE HER AND HELP MICHAEL. SHE HAD A PEACEFUL, JOYFUL LOOK ON HER FACE AND THOUGH I WAS BELIEVING FOR A MIRACLE I KNEW SHE WAS IN HEAVEN. YES, RITAROSE DID SAVE HER SON'S LIFE. GOD BLESS THE FAMILY. SINCERELY, JONATHAN

Jonathan, thankyou, thankyou for all that you tried to do for my sister and for what you did for Michael. God Bless You!! There has been a MIRACLE, Michael is alive and the good news is, he's making progress! When Michael was at Dartmouth Hospital, in the condition he was in, I was scared to death that he wouldn't survive, but the miracle of what he is achieving brings tears of joy to my eyes. He has a long way to go...but with everyone's faith and prayers I believe he will be the miracle, I myself, told him he would be for me. He is a fighter, trying hard with therapies..he sits up in his wheelchair now, before he couldn't even hold his body up. He has a trach and a G-Tube, but in time I hope to see them go too! He needs to do much more healing: the extensive brain injury he received from this accident will reguire much time, but Michael has the entire unit at the rehab he is now at, very excited. The more that people, family, & friends get involved in Michael's life, the more likely Michael will recover more. One more thing, thanks for telling me that my sister, Ritarose, was smiling, for I'm sure that she is now...she would be so proud of Michael as she always was of him! Their hearts would always beat for each other, now her heart beats in a 63 year old man. She saved many lives, as an organ donor and as a mother..Michael will be just as proud of her!

Hi Nicole,
Michael has been off life support for quite some time now. He's making much more progress...you should try to get here to see him, he would love that and needs family and friends very much. I am setting up a fund raiser event and will let everyone know the details as soon as I have everything settled. My "Booka" is a determined young man, you just keep praying for him, okay! I am working on having some changes made to the house, so that when Michael comes to live with me, he will be as comfortable as possible. If you can think of other ways to raise some money on his behalf, that would be very helpful and greatly appreciated. He needs a wheelchair ramp, a walk-in shower room, a bedroom added on to the house, and equipment. I miss Ritarose too, more than anyone could ever imagine, I feel lost without her. Saturdays, our rollerskating day, I don't know what to do with myself anymore. I fight back the tears and try to focus on all that I need to do for Michael. I will always do my very best for him. Michael is what keeps me going. Michael is my miracle! When Ritarose died, a part of me died too. I visit her often, I talk to her everyday. I believe she gives me strength!
I look forward to the day that I will see her in heaven! I miss and love you, my sister, my friend, my Ritarose! One more thing, I have a letter of all the organ donations that Ritarose made, call me and I'll read it to you. She sure did save many lives! She was and always will be the best of the best!
Hugs

I will be sure to tell Michael about his wolverines football team, he will be very happy to hear that. Michael, I'm sure, would like to say hello to all of his team as well. Due to his condition, having a trach and being that his speech was affected, he can't voice it himself right now, but with prayers I hope that he will some day. Thankyou for your thoughts and prayers. Michael has much support from so many people, thank you all so very much for everything you have done! His football picture is hanging in his room, with many other pictures of many other sports that he had been involved in. He's working hard, making progress, bringing smiles to my face. He's at Spaulding Rehab, here in Boston, please call first if you'd like to visit him. Visits from friends would be great for Michael's continued recovery! Thankyou again..Michael's, Auntie Sandi

Thanks George..You knew that fun, loving, full of life person in Ritarose. You got to hear her wonderful laughter! I miss that laughter, we laughed till we cried, I can still hear us. We had this joke, she was "Retar" and I was "Ded", put us together and you got "Retarded", simply and only meaning, "silly". Not politically correct..I know..but no harm or insult intended. You, George, share in memories that touch your heart in a special way. I wish this was just a nightmare, that I'd wake up and see and hear her again. I wish... and then there's reality. It's not just cut and dry; just a sad story, many lives were saved as a result of Ritarose losing her own..that doesn't make it better for me, just easier to digest, I guess. Life will never be the same...I am forever changed. Thanks for you thoughts and prayers. I'll keep you updated on Michael's progress!

Michael is a nice and polite kid. You're right, nobody deserves this, that is why we must appreciate every day we have, because we do not know what tomorrow will bring. There's a song called "Live Like You Were Dying" by Tim McGraw. That song says alot. It's one of my favorites! Never put off for tomorrow what you can do today. Smile everyday, don't waste time being angry at silly not-so important things, live each day to the fullest, be loving and caring, always doing your best. Enjoy the world around you and the people in it. Don't be afraid to be silly, always be a giving person, take time to enjoy life and you will always be happy inside and out. Thankyou for your thoughts.

Thankyou for your kind thoughts. It's said that sometimes there's a reason for why things happen in life. I don't know what the reason is for this, but I do know that we must all be strong and pray for Michael. He is a wonderful, intelligent, fun, and loving young man. He's a fighter, he's not giving up and we must not give up either. Michael has a hard and long road ahead of him. I strongly believe that he is going to show us all, the meaning of: love of life, importance of life, trust in God, and belief in one another. As a team, we must continue to support him in every way we can. I believe Michael will amaze us all. Don't lose faith! Thankyou again for showing how much you care! This is Michael's, Auntie Sandi

I would like to know how Michael is doing in his recovery. I often think of him even though the last I saw him was in Somerville across the street from my house ( Glen St.) He was only about 5yrs old. I miss Ritarose and often think about her as well. We were the best of friends growing up on Glen st..
I am a nurse now and can really appreciate the lives that Ritarose gave a second chance to by donating her organs. How is her Mom doing? With Love, Michelle Bourgeois
