What a tragedy and how sad that Mary Beth was not able to tell anyone what was going on in her home. Too many women keep silent about abuse and they need the support of church to help them. Her husband was arrested for DV twelve years ago in San Antonio. Sooooooo sad. Im sorry I didn't get to know Mary Beth.

Husband had lost his job of seventeen years. It could be that he could not handle the pressure of a half million home and the style of living. None the less, a very sad event.

Does anyone know where I can find her obituary? I would like to do something for the children. Usually, the obituary mentions where you can donate.

A man who murders his wife and the mother of his children is NOT a great man!

Handle the pressure of affording a half million dollar house. That was a stupid assessment. Eric has been my best friend for almost 40 yrs and I know him better than most other than his immediate family. There was more to this marriage than you know. There are always 2 sides to a coin in situations like this. Agreed...a very sad event, but some people call the cops to just for the record. Did you ever think that was the reason for the 2001 incident? There's more to this story than some guy just losing it on his wife. He's not that type of guy. I am sad about this for the sake of not only NIck and Katie, but for the entire family on both sides.

Don't make dumb comments if you don't know the man and the background behind this story. I challenge anyone to a debate on this issue.

Guys get abused too. You're dumb!! It's always the woman that's the victim. Tired of hearing it. What he did was a tragic event no question, but you should know your facts. I've known him my entire life so I'm a little sensitive to all the dumb comments I've seen. I pray for Eric because I know his spirit and I know something went seriously wrong that day for this to happen. This is a classic example of a miscalculated tragic accident where someone simply lost it and it's affected everyone involved.

He IS a great guy. I'm sorry to hear about Mary Beth and pray for he and the kids. You obviously knew them well to be able to see both people for who they were/are. He's a solid guy which is why this event has shocked me. I did not see that coming. Thanks

I just ran across these comments when I was searching for Beth's obituary for a family member. I am Beth's aunt. I just wanted to say that ignorant people like you never cease to amaze me. Nobody knows exactly what went on the day of her murder, but being a family member I am well aware of the major issues that Eric had. When your life becomes overcome with alcohol and drugs, anything is possible. Anyone who murders the mother of his children is a monster and NOT a good man! I received an email from Eric a few years before Beth's murder that reiterated his craziness. It's too bad that Beth remained silent about her battered wife syndrome as this could have been prevented. RIP beautiful angel and good riddance to the monster who was not man enough to suffer the consequences for what he did!
