Do you guys know Earl Davis,He had a scholarship to UT.You can tell who reads this by the ages they give.Teakettle Smith was considered one of the toughest players in Celina's history and his son was also an out standinding talent.

I am sorry to inform you, but gary davis done alot of bench riding in his days at MTSU, and as for the professional level, give me a break, but its always good that you think highly of him at least.

Jack Napier received a football scholarship to TTU,he was a very good football player, who also received a degree in civil engineering. Gary Davis was plagued with injuries,he finished his degree and was always such a student-athlete role model at CHS. It would have been great to have combined some of these into the same team!

Yeah, it's definitely hard for anybody to compare to Burchett. He was runner up for Mr. Football. Not sure if that has happened in any sport in Celina before.
Agree....he was great to watch.

You have got to be kidding me. Yea he played football, thats about as much as you can say for that I mean he was big and slow and so that didnt really help anywhere except on the line and furthermore he tried to play QB and to do this you must be a great leader and I'm sorry but he couldnt lead a fart out of an asshole. Come on now I am sorry but he doesnt deserve to be remembered as one of the best, but I mean he was about average for celina anyway.

There are a few people that have been left out that played at or around the time I did. Nathat Strong and Cody Richardson out of the class of 05 Cody went to Lambuth with a scholarship and he deserved it he may have been the best pulling guard this town has ever seen on offense, and he was an above average defensive end making a great asset on both sides of the ball. Next Nathan Strong is easily in the top 5 greatest defensive players to play football at Celina, sadly he tore an ACL at Gordonsville, and for those of you who dont know this is an extremely tough injury to overcome both physically and mentally, had this not happened I could have seen Nathan being the best defensive players to play for Celina.

Next up on the greats is Johnathan Frazier, and when I say great that is exactly what he was, Is, and always will be in mine and so many other peoples hearts. Johnathan was so amazing on and off the field which is hard to find these days, he was so smart so kind and so well rounded but this was just what kind of person he was off the field, I only got the privilege to play football with him for one year, which was his sophomore year and even by that time everyone knew that he would do anything he wanted with his talent, he was so strong so fast and had such good hands that when he was in the play you could always count on him to make things happen. And also he was a key player in the defeat of Gordonsville in 04 when we made the playoffs. So when you thing of the greatest remember greatness on and off the field is what makes a great athlete, a great leader, and a great man and Johnathan is all of these forever. Someday we will all be reunited.

Kyle Whitlow my god he was so fast and so strong he may very well have played football in the NFL if thats what he wanted. If they needed 3 yards they could give the ball to Kyle if they needed an 80 yard miracle they could pitch the ball to Kyle around the end. If there was a 300 lbs lineman in front of him he could be gone before he realized what team he was playing against, if there was a 200 lbs linebacker he could lower his shoulder and hit him like a Mack truck or maybe a little harder. Kyle was very unique he had speed like Jamal Lewis, and hit like Ray Lewis except harder. He was and probably still is college material.

tHE TEAM of 1991 gave us some great excitement that year. They were all dedicated players and intelligent ones too. All those crosses they posted after each win were so cool. They dearly loved their coach, Coach Richardson. He effected the character of each student he coached. His legacy lives on.
I had all but forgotten about those crosses. I think they were put up, up close to the Ag building best I remember. Most all of us that played those years were good ole boys that were a little cocky when it came to football. Most of us took pride in intimidating the other teams. But yeah we ALL thought the world of "Red Hog". I helped him build the "Dog House", deer hunted with him when we were supposed to be learning to drive in Drivers Ed.,wore those suspenders when he had too because of the medicine pump he had in his belly, went and saw him when he was at St. Thomas and also visited with him at home several times, I even argued with him cause I was a teenager then and knew it all. I went to his gravesite just a few weeks ago and just sat there and remembered the "good ole days". I was a senior in 91 the last year he coached. I wish we could have got that state title for him. You know a lot of people blamed the loss to FRA on his play calling, and at one time I did to but as a kid I guess we had to blame someone other than ourselves. But I now believe if that play had have worked he would have been even more of a legend than he is now.

The 91 football season was so exciting and exhibited true sportsmanship of players and fans. This team was a team. The most talented were backed up by dedicated players who were committed. When Brian B. rushed for a first down or from a pass to touchdown, the whole team acted as if they had scored. Brian was always meek and did not flaunt his talent. Those crosses were symbolic of the dedication to their fellow players, their school, their fans, and to their leader, Coach Russell Richardson. What a season! High School sports at its best.

Eric was on the great team that included Jeff Brown, Brian Burchett (who was runner-up for Mr. Football), Greg Collins, and so many more. It may have been the best all time Celina team.
is there a picture of this football team ?
