i believe this man is not guilty. i wouldnt say this just about anyone. but look at it from his point of view...his COUSIN was getting bruitally beaten and Kirk wouldnt listen to Tyler. Tyler did the only other thing he could think of on short notice to get this man to stop. he got his gun and shot warnings, it was an acident for it to hit Kirk. i believe this man would NEVER intenally hurt a human for no good reason. Tyler is a good man, he always has been and he always will be. and until my days are done, i will defend this man.

You weren't there so you don't know the truth! The fight was over when he murdered Scott. It will all come out in the trial. He fired warning shots the fight broke up. Tyler went back in the house came back out and shot him. Don't believe everything you hear. Justice will be served... maybe then Scotty and his family can rest in peace.

It should be a murder 1 charge , he shot and killed Scott kirk who was an amazing man , that would not intentionally start a fight, his roommate , started this and instead of being a man and trying to break it up like a MAN would he went and got a gun and killed him, I also think Mr unknown the person who started this should be in jail for conspiracy since he told his roommate to get the gun, there will be justice

Really? Scotty stopped when the warning shots were fired. Tyler went back in the house. The fight started again and ended. Tyler came back out of the house and shot him in the face. Accident? Please! You don't fire warning shots at someone's face unless you want them dead! RIP Scotty... justice will be served. Prayers are being heavily sent and God knows the truth.

Let's see, their was a fight on the shooters property. He fired warning shots to break it up. The apparent drunk and drugged deceased did not listen. The home owner then shot the tresspasser. Then, the shooter calls 911 immediately. Sounds like a closed case of self defense from a tresspasser to me. I have also read the deceased has been arrested multiple times on drug charges. I think the toxicology reports will spell a lot of this out.

This post is pure ignorance. If you weren't there you have no business commenting on what REALLY happened. You are only going off what you are being told... lies. He is in jail on charges for a reason. He should be charged with murder! It's always wise to get the truth before you assume you know what you are talking about. I swear people have no respect these days. Who talks about people who are no longer living? I will pray for you. I will be glad when this trial is over so that Scotty can rest in peace. Truth will prevail and justice will be served.

I know Tyler Bowles and his family. He grew up across the street. He is a Purdue graduate and a good kid. He moved to Southern Indiana because he enjoys the outdoors. He's never hurt anyone and never been in trouble. The mistakes Tyler made was being out late, around the wrong crowd, and trying to hook up with some girl. That seems like a normal night for a guy in his 20's. Beating someone until they are in the hospital isn't a normal thing to do. Tyler tried to break it up and the guy continued. He fired warning shots, the guy didn't quit, and he shot him. It looks like Mr. Tough Guy paid with his life to learn a lesson.

The Scott guy has been in and out of trouble. Sometimes you can only be an idiot for so long and you pay the price. The only sad thing is a good kid with a bright future has to suffer because of it.

Unlike everyone else on here I use my real name because I really don't care about what that idiot's family or friends think.

Being a Purdue graduate doesn't make you a good kid. There are countless people in jail for murder who have an education far better than Purdue. So try another excuse. Like I've said numerous times, my brother was defending me his little sister. Brent should have never came out starting trouble. Scott got the best of him that should have been the end of it. You don't break up a fight with a gun. He should have helped me break it up physically or if he was that scared called the cops. My brother was innocent and didn't deserve to lose his life. Cowards use guns... If he were as educated as you make him out to be, he would have called the cops instead of taking justice in his own hands. People make mistakes and have to pay the consequences. It's unfortunate on both sides, but bad mouthing Scott doesn't justify his murder. I've suffered enough. No one should have to hold there big brother and watch them die in their arms. In the end Tyler made a mistake. Now he has to pay. I know his family and friends are hurting, but at least he is still living. I have never disrespected Tyler or his family, but have seen nothing but from his side. Please show some dignity and respect. I understand everyone's feelings but please do not forget that we lost the heart of our family and we will never get him back. RIP Bubby I will defend you until the end when we meet again. Xoxo

For the record, the fight was over when he murdered Scotty. Contrary to what is being spread around, I was there and witnessed the whole tragedy.

my condolence to the victims family. No one wins in a case like this. We all need to do the correct thing so the truth has to come out. Drugs never make the right decision. Why did the victim stop the beating? Did he think he had killed him and now was going on to another one to beat? Did the accused also think his friend was dead and feered for his life. Remember he was out numbered 3 to 1. We all need to learn from this so that we are not in this situation. Father be home with your 2 kids and take care of them. Stay off drugs, walk away from trouble if you can.

As the toxicology report showed, Scotty was not on drugs (contrary to popular belief). It is really sad how society spreads rumors and makes up lies to justify wrong doing. Brent Bowles was intimidating Scotty by screaming get the @&"$ off my property while they had our close friend inside the house. Scotty was defending me and my friend from God knows what they had planned to do to her. So when the intimidator and the instigator don't look so tough anymore they turned to lethal means. My brother lost his life because these two boys made an ignorant mistake. Regardless of anyone's past wether they have run ins with the law or wether they went to college, right is right and wrong is wrong. Point blank, no matter who you are. Scotty was outnumbered by 2 men one which had a gun. He was fighting for his life as well. Him being a good fighter doesn't justify his murder. He lost his life for putting up a good fight. Also Scotty didn't have any children. I was looking at my brother as he was shot. He was pacing the yard looking down at the ground. He never seen the fatal bullet coming. The coroner and the autopsy report tell that he had his head down when he was shot by the way the bullet entered. Tyler Bowles intended to kill him. I believe if someone aims for someone's head they have intentions to kill. Thank you for your concerns and support. We appreciate it from the bottom of our hearts.

Thank you for your concern. The case has been set to go to trial and Tyler Bowles was released on a $100,000 cash bond. The trial is set to start in August.

At a bar all night and did not drink. I guess it is possible. Seems he would have made better decisions, if that was the case. Bad decisions on everyone's part. Someone telling me to get off their property, I would have taken my loved ones and left. Nothing of his I would want. i think you left out some details. Tyler having to live with what he did will be his punishment. I have stopped fights before...peoples and animals..even if I am weak and female. However, unless I was there, I cannot judge.

It was never said that he wasn't drinking... just that he wasn't under any influence of drugs. No details were left out I assure you. As the sister of the deceased I want to only tell the absolute truth in order for justice. We were in the car in the driveway with no keys. We weren't given time to leave. We had just arrived when Brent Bowles came charging at the car screaming get the %&*@ off my property. Also it is difficult to break up a fight when you are a 5'3" female. You may have been successful but I howere wasn't. However I could have been if the shooter would have attempted to help me break it up instead of being a coward and resulting to a gun.

It never went to trial. Tyler accepted a plea of guilty in exchange of doing just under a year in D.O.C. and 2 years home detention. His sentencing is scheduled for November 2nd.
