This is laughable. Yellow Springs is the home of Antioch, the most liberal college in the country. This was obviously a plant by some brainwashed college kid. Even so, fracking is hazardous to drinking water and all these rural Republican will rue the day they voted Republicans back into power when their homes are no longer livable because their well is polluted.

Thanks for your help Dewine. Prehaps you have congress should have voted NO. Do you know what fracking means? It means fracturing the pieces of shale to get the oil out? Others call a word I can not post. I will never allow anyone to do that on my land. BUt our congressman have allowed it on our state parks. The top soil will be gone. Look it up be educated. DO not give away your rights.

With DeWine's history, I feel like the only drilling advice he'll be giving is to bend over.

Teacher of 26 Years: Are you really a teacher?

With sentences like, "Prehaps you have congress should have voted NO," and "Look it up be educated..."? Woe to the students of Lima if you're an English teacher, and likewise if you "teach" earth science... drilling has nothing to do with topsoil loss.

You should cling hard to your union membership, because you would never survive an honest performance appraisal required for a merit-based increase.

To adapt a line from Star Wars, "S.B. 5, you are our only hope..."

Boy, DeWine is determined to get his name in the news each and every day isn't he? All he really cares about is publicity...

Repeat, repeat, repeat:
The attorney general's website includes tips for property owners:
- Request credentials about the company.
- Ask for the names of owners of other land where the company has drilled, and check with neighbors.
- Get everything in writing, and consult an attorney knowledgeable about oil and gas law.
- Discuss lease payments and potential damage.
Be sure there is a bond or non-cancellable insurance to cover the landowner should the driller mess up and/or go bankrupt.
There is no big hurry. That gas has been around for millions of years. One more year of careful planning won't hurt the landowner's case. Remember, the driller owes the landowner, not the other way around.

For those who think fracking is safe, a few simple internet searches or watching the film "Gasland" would be enough to inform them that there have been serious problems with groundwater contamination associated with this invasive method. Kasich, as usual, is willing to prevaricate for industry and money--rather than making sure of the safety of his state, as other governors have done regarding this extraction process.

What if he advised Ohians to support more public transportation?

"Industry spokesmen and Kasich administration officials say the drilling process, known as "fracking," is safe."

If you are gullible enough to believe Kasich when he says something is "safe", then you deserve everything you get.

Fracking causes earthquakes and puts carcinogens into the drinking water. Some people in fracked areas can ignite the water coming out of their faucets.

Because of the "Halliburton Loophole", the companies that conduct fracking do not have to disclose what chemicals they are using.

Crops and livestock that come from a fracked area will be polluted but will probably be sold to consumers anyway.

This is what Kasich wants to do to Ohio. For profit.

You are an idiot if you believe your own statements. Fracking causes earthquakes? This makes you appear credible. You wasted your money on the movie "Gasland". Someone is laughing all the way to the bank on you fools. The greedy people crying about polluted water are those who signed leases without consulting an attorney. Now their only recourse is to say that their water was destroyed. Most of the ground water in Pennsylvania was destroyed by surface mining in the 1950s. The driller should have taken water samples first. Now how are they going to prove it? You can bet that water sampling is now part of the process. Those who bought land without the mineral rights or sold their surface rights to the gas companies have to look out the window at the drilling and compressor equipment. I have been approached by land agents and was smart enough to get legal advice. Otherwise, the lease that was offered to me gave everything to the land company.

It always costs more to get legal advice after-the-fact.

None of three goofy lawmakers who asked for this waste of time probe represent Yellow Springs, Ohio. Another phony Democratic issue.
