The inclusion of the video of this poor Father learning of the death of his young son is in extremely poor taste.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the family in this hour of tragedy.

His father was there but in a different part of the field.

I would first like to thank Mr. Vance for his thoughts and prayers, as to all who have come to my family’s aid in this disastrous time. I also would like to express appreciation of Mr. Vance’s comment of the video footage being in poor taste.

I know I personally was appalled by the insensitivity of the footage taken of my uncle, and I know others were as well. It is one thing to film the farmyard and the scene where it happened and the activity that was surrounding it, but the fact that they would broadcast his suffering from this horrible event is crass and horribly impolite. Furthermore, posting the video of it online has been sickening for us, and it would be appreciated if it would please be removed. Thank you.

I cannot say that I knew the deceased, but nevertheless my thoughts are with the family.
However, I want WDTN to know I agree with both Ms. Pitstick and Mr. Vance about how the WDTN covered this report. I hope the administrators remove the video as Ms. Pitstick mentioned. I find such reckless journalism nearly malicious...

Katelyn, My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. I have also lost a child and know what you are going through. It is not easy in anyway.

I also wanted to let you know that I have sent an email to Dave Demarko and asked that the video be removed or at least the family scenes be edited out.

Thank you so much to those who have shown so much support for me and my family, and who are praying for us and for Austin. Thank you also to those who agree and support me in asking that the video be removed- your concerns and reactions are, in a way, very much consoling.

What a tragic story.... and what a complete ass Dave D'Marko is to even imply that other charges, even hinting at possible criminal, are under consideration. TV2 ought to fire him for his ignorant and self promoting speculation. And for allowing it, the TV2 management is to blame as well. About the only thing good about TV2 anymore is the weather team. TV2 isn't on your side, they are on their side, and the hell with the viewing public. What a shame that the station is so self serving!

This is a tradey. The video is in very poor taste and exploits grief at a vulnerable time. It needs to be removed.

To whom it may concern:

When this tragedy first unfolded I actually saw coverage of it on channel 7 news. It was not until after the fact that I heard of channels 2 news' coverage and I have to say I am appalled by what I have just watched. I understand that journalist have a responsibility to report the news but it seems to me that that practice has become void of any respect or accountability. This story is tragic and heartbreaking enough without having to video a father learning of the death of his child. Channel 2 should be ashamed of themselves not only for shooting this footage but for airing it. Putting a person's reaction to news like that is so incredibly invasive and unecessary.

I have also been informed by a family member that was present the day of the accident that Channel 2 was asked to move back out of respect, and at the time is appeared that they did oblige that request. However, after watching their video footage it appears that they simply left and entered the road from the opposite end which put them closer to the accident scene.

Lastly, the statements regarding the fact that no adults were around and questioning if charges will be filed are unstandable to a certain degree. I believe Channel 7 also made similar statements, however they followed them up with the explanation that Ohio does not have a law in place that mandates the legal age for operating farm equipment. I understand that people will naturally wonder where the adults were at when a child is killed or what an 11 year old was doing driving a tractor by himself. However, this is where you should have explained the fact that Ohio does not have a legal age in place for operating that type of equipment (as Channel 7 did) and that in fact, right or wrong, it is common practice for children Austin's age and even younger to work on their parents farm (also as Channel 7 did).

What happened here was a tragic accident, nothing more and nothing less. I would like to ask each of you who were involded in shooting and airing this footage one question. If that were you, and your only child had just been killed in a tragic accident would you want your reaction to be captured on video and then aired on the evening news for all to see? Somehow I doubt it.

I would like to suggest that Channel 2 consider either removing the video or editing it to remove the footage of Mr. Pitstick learning of his child's death out of respect for the father's family, the mothers family, and the farming community as a whole. I am guessing this suggestion will go unheeded and be ignored. I am only one viewer but I am one less viewer that you will have in the future.

The fact that channel 2 still has neither removed this footage nor apologized to the family of Austin Pitstick is sickening to me. Have they still not realized how disrespectful this entire video coverage was? I will no longer be watching channel 2 until something is done about this extreme invasion of privacy to the Pitstick family.

Austin is still missed and don't you forget it. i just watched the video of the accident and with tears in my eyes i was able to get through it. I want to thank Dale Reed for if he had not saw Austin then who knows how long he would have layed there. Don't think you could have done something mmore because you couldn't. It was his time. Austin is still in my heart even at this point in time. R.I.P i love you and miss you :) :(
