ST. IGNACE, Mich. -- A decision is expected on a new pricing policy for drivers who commute across "Big Mac." The Mackinac Bridge Authority board meets Friday and is expected to choose between two alternatives for drivers crossing the bridge connecting Lower Michigan with the Upper Peninsula.

Both proposals are out of line. thiese proposals do nonething but hurt the residents of the UP. Bridge Authority needs to get smart and base commuter rates on who is an actual resident like on zip codes which is not hard. The bridge authority will just have to work on checking zip codes on Id's before throwing out a commuter card to just anyone. Out of state residents and residents that live down sate or in Canada are nor local residents, so why are they being given commuter cards!!!! MBA needs to use their heads before the vote on the wrong proposal.Stop hurting this area, this is suppose to be the gateway to the UP. Lets bring people here not scare them away!

why do the people of st.ignace have to be classified with all others we are local and we should be given some consideration when judjing who get a little break on bridge fares..don't forget we now a have a large wal-mart in the soo and don't have to shop on the other side of the bridge it is just that cheboygan and petoskey are the 2 cities that are the ones we have always shopped at please consider this when making your decision..
