Heard through the Grape Vine, yeah I know how that is, that David Barrow will not pay the GRPA dues. Would that explain why we didn't have a 10and Under Recreation Softball Allstar team? Maybe he doesn't care about GRPA, softball association, and only cares about Dizzy Dean, Little League, etc. I bet he paid the bill to the association that ran the World Series that his son's team played in located in Mississippi. Just a thought! One other thing...anyone notice that they have not advertised Fall Softball. So what are girls suppose to play... Cheerleading, Soccer, or Baseball. Wake up Cedartown and Polk County, why do you think that our teenage pregnancy rate is so high? You've got to build those elementary programs.

He told one parent that softball was not a priority to him so they moved their child to another rec. program to play. lled out of their Some people's heads need to be pulled out of their asses and fix this problem. When anyone brings these issues to the city commissioners attention, nothing is ever done. It all has to do with whose ass Daid Barrow's lips ae attached to.

Just remember there will be an election next November, to voice your opinion! There' will be 3 running in the election! Get out and vote!
I have done some research, and Rockmart has a good program for the kids That's where my grandsons will be playing from now on.
Someone needs to check where the money from all the dizzy dean tournaments, he hosted, went???(whose pocket) not the citys. The city commissioners sure know about this and they should be held accountable as he should too.
I don't understand the commissioners. Wonder if they are getting some money, too? Makes you wonder, huh?
Wonder why they don't make him do as the other departments within the city? Every dept. is having to cut back and get by with what they have and he is allowed to spend as he pleases. this is MIne and Yours hard earned tax dollars.

will the election you cite in november have city commission seats in the race? from other posts on here it seems that's the group who appoints the recreation director, correct?

what dizzy dean tournaments did cedartown host? from the dizzy dean website, we were set to host 13u boys. it was my understanding that no teams played in the age group that our town was to host, therefore no tournaments, thus no one stealing money. if i am wrong, please correct me

I am sure Poppa Joe just has his association wrong because I know for a fact that David held multiple tournaments at NW Park, but I am not sure what has happened to the money from these tournaments. He may have used it to pay for hotel rooms for the team his son is on when they went to state and to MS. I had the parents on this team tell me they did not pay for the hotel rooms.
I will be out helping an candidate that runs against any of our city commissioners. We must have a change at the rec department and City Commissioners.

Why does David Barrow have rec dept employees out cutting grass on personal property when there is work for them to do for the actual CITY? I honestly believe that it is all about what makes him look the best and he is not worried about making anything successful for the children of Cedartown!

What? The rec employees were cutting grass on personal property? Was this during their work hours? Did they use the city equipment? Why would they cut personal property? Were they told to cut personal property on city time with city equipment by the rec director?
If this is true it just shows that the rec director knows he does not have anyone above him that cares enough to watch or listen. What are the city commissioners doing to get rid of this person that is making his own rules? This is unacceptable to use tax payers money to cut personal property. Were they cutting the rec director's grass? if not, that will be next.

Shouldnt there be some kind of over sight to catch this "overspending". Is there not a budget? if so this should never had happened? Not sure im buying this over spending thing, if so more heads should roll, his superiors should have known he was over spending if it was this bad. Sounds like he was just the fall guy. I am not sure about the comment that girls softball was not offered. Actually they had girls softball this season. They were offered from 10 year old and up. I really do not think this is the reason that he got fired.
Try talking to a commissioners about the rec department and they do not mention not offering softball as an issue with the rec director, but they will say alot if you will just ask.
This is the third rec director that hs been fired in less than 5 years, but this has to set a record for the shortest tenure. I think that says alot on how poor of a rec director he was.
