what is being said, and where?

if it is derogatory, then the people flapping their jaws are imbeciles.

On the businesses' walls on Facebook!!!

No, the chick blaming them for teens getting pregnant when they close is the imbecile; the others are just plain classless.

And if I'm not mistaken the imbecile was a teen mom!

We will miss it. I certainly didn't keep them in business but I quit going to movies elsewhere just to support a local cinema. You're right, Loopy, the comments are shameful but that is why they are going out of biz - the locals favor cheap.

that you did your part to support a local business the way you did is very, very admirable. kudos to you and others who did the same.

You can't have NY prices in Cedartown and expect to make it.

NY prices? Women drive to the mall to pay $300 for a handbag so that ain't the problem and Holmes ain't cheap either! And I been in that store with no help whatsoever before so the rude jabs about service are a crock!

The community is not supportive of locals unless they carry the latest junky trend it seems

Well it's not the best location either. I don't shop at Holmes either because of prices and you'd never catch me paying $300 for a purse.

You and I don't, but many do .. most of them are underpaid school teachers, too! They keep Lumpkin at The Avenue in business buying overpriced Vera Bradley.

I read some of those stupid remarks - is it a surprise that people around here have no class?

Teachers are not under paid They make a nice income for the work they do I am tired of hearing about under paid teachers!! Police and fire men are under paid. Try working for 7.25 an hour then talk about the under paid teachers. They have salaries, holidays, christmas break thanksgiving break, spring break and summer break. They still get paid. Quit with the under paid teacher crap.

Papa John's workers will have their hours reduced due to Obamacare, Huffington Post reports Nov. 9. The pizza chain's CEO, John Schnatter, said now that President Obama has been re-elected he plans to pass the expense of the nation's new health care plan down to his workers -- which means less hours.

This is the second time Papa John's pizza is making news over Obamacare. The CEO announced customers would be paying between 11 and 14 cents more per pizza after Obamacare was passed this summer. Schnatter doesn't think people realize they're going to pay big for the Affordable Care Act put in place.

"That's what you do, is you pass on costs," he said. "Unfortunately, I don't think people know what they're going to pay for this."

Obamacare mandates that employees working over 30 hours per week are covered by their employers. A number of restaurants have admitted they might be forced to cut their employees hours because they cannot afford Obamacare for them.

Photo credit: Getty Images ..John Schnatter might be getting a lot of criticism for the prices raised on Papa John's pizza and reducing his workers' hours, but people can expect to see more of this in order to support Obamacare.

Sarcasm was wasted on you.

Most teachers I know take several vacations every year, shop til they drop and cut school whenever they decide they need a day.

A teacher (who must have a
Bachelor degree at the minimum) makes less in Georgia than the average worker with a two-year Associates degree. Their hours also tend to be longer. These are only facts, taken from the Department of Labor, not personal bias.

Get your info straight before posting about teachers. You obviously have been misinformed. Teachers do not get paid for holidays, fall break, winter break, and definitely not summer break. Where on earth did you get your information?!?!?! We only get paid for the days we are physically there working.

I believe that teachers also do not get paid for overtime, although I know many who work long after the clock says they can leave.

To get back on the original topic, I just feel that blaming Obama for Pink Sugar/West Cinema's failings are disingenuous at best. Ironically, it's more likely the free market did them in, as they seem to have not had a very good long-term business model. Just my opinion. But I do wish them the best and hope they have better luck in the future.

All theatres have narrow margins. Locals have to support hometown businesses or they close!
