A Polk County police car was damaged in a mid-morning wreck in Cedartown Monday, but officials said no one suffered any serious injuries. According to the Georgia State Patrol (GSP), the police vehicle, driven by Officer Joshua Martin, was headed back to the police department around 8:44 a.m. when the accident occurred. The officer had been on routine patrol, was not on a call, and was not transporting anyone at the time, GSP officials said. A woman, identified as Meril Dennis, was driving her Ford Explorer with a 3-year-old boy in the backseat. GSP reports state Dennis was attempting to turn left when she turned in front of the police officer, causing the collision. GSP officials said the woman and child were taken to Polk Medical Center as a precaution. Dennis was cited in the accident. |
