I want some of whatever Suozzi is smoking. The County won't even be able to run Cedar Creek come this Spring when the majority of its top Operations, Diesel, and HVAC people have retired. In the Operations Section alone, there will only be two Senior Supervisors left after April. Senior Supervisors run the Plant on a 24/7 schedule. That means the two remaining men will have to work 12 hours a day, 7 days a week, with no room for vacation or sick time. Additionally, the Operations Section Head is also retiring. The phrase "to kill the snake, you cut off its head" comes to mind.

Let's see ... all the employees keep their jobs, all the plants get upgraded and the rates in those districts go down but not until 2011 (when Suozzi isn't here).

A general rule of thumb. If someones paying less .. someone else is paying more. Looks like the entire county is subsidizing a tax break for democratic leaning communities just before an election.

How convenient. No wonder the details weren't there.

Suozzi comments that he knows sewers. Does he remember last year when Cedar Creek Plant was in the Long Island Press for horrendous conditions and mismanagement and he commented that he didn't know anything about it. Well if he knew sewers then he should have known about that. What exactly does he know about sewers? If he was on top of things then he definitely would have know about that, it not he could have caught up by reading the articles that were continuous in the Long Island Press, maybe even turn on Channel 12 to see the story also. Maybe he should get rid of the waste in Nassau County starting with the 4th floor then maybe he could read up and learn more about waste water management.

"Tom Suozzi knows sewers". Did Tom Suozzi watch Channel 12 today did he see the pictures of the Cedar Creek Wastewater Treatment Plant. Maybe he should get off his dead Mineola butt and personally go down to the plant with all his knowlege of sewers and see for himself instead of listening to people, for example, his commissioner and his two deputy commissioners one of which Cutugno has dated. I guess Suozzi will tell the newspapers again that he wasn't aware of any problems at Cedar Creek again. Suozzi's best and brighest are just putting perfume on stink at the plant and closing their eyes to the real problems at hand. Instead of trying to consoldiate with other villages and cities Suozzi should try to fix the problem that exists right in his own backyard and then look into consolidation. But when he looks into consolidation he should maybe speak to employees that work there or have worked there who are probably more kowledgeable then his commissioner and deputies and also the person running the plant to the ground now. You can cut corners and make yourself look good in Mineola with the budget at the expense of the employees and the residents of the community. Mr. Cutugno has been ultimately in charge for the last 10 years. In those 10 years he mismanaged and deteriorated the plants. In the beginning he blamed management before him who won awards at the plant for excellence in treatment. Now after 10 years and the same ole same ole whose to blame but him. Let's not forget if anyone was really checking Mr. Cutugno was in charge of Bay Park and that plant was in violation for 9 months before he was promoted to run Cedar Creek, but it must pay to be a committeeman from Hewlett.
If someone not knowing anything about sewers reads this in the newspaper they could figure out on their own without knowing sewers LIKE SUOZZI how bad can conditions been when the employees go to the media for health concerns over safety because telling the commissioner and deputy commisioners of the conditions at the plant falls on deaf ears and fear of retaliation is inevitable. The employees are putting their own jobs in jeopardy by bringing this to the attention of the media to try to resolve the issues at Cedar Creek. Again, this most likely fell on deaf ears.
