There is something known in the Constitution as the "General Welfare of the People".
LOOK IT UP, STUPID!!!!!!!
PLEASE STOP BEING SO DAMN IGNORANT.
Hey there really stupid- held myself back all day from writing- yup- i am involved- firstly- we did not have to report- this was diagnosed privately and i opted to report to help all of the people who were exposed even though reporting has been extremely invasive to myself and all of those involved. so stupid, do you know that federally and according to the state laws that the department of health is not allowed to release our names and info- in fact it would be great for us if they do- we could win millions by suing their pants off. Next, baby had a little cold, and when they hopped around shopping- had no rash or other symptoms- you are infectious for five days prior to the rash. Also did anyone consider that they are Americans who were visiting Israel and live here you dodos!! This baby is 8 months old and you don't immunize until 12 months, got the measles because SOMEONE ELSE CHOSE NOT TO IMMUNIZE their child- so know that i have vented lets concentrate on what is important- firstly that the baby is finally getting better- thanks for asking everyone and most importantly for everyone that does not immunize, not just jews who don't immunize, make an informed decision- understand that when you choose not to immunize you don't only put your own child at risk but others as well. I am proud of the decision that I made to report this illness, and although it has been harrowing, hopefully many people will be helped, a measles epidemic will have been contained and we can all learn the importance of immunizations.
I will not be posting again so please don't address questions to me.
Good health to you and all of your loved ones.

You are obviously a person who can see the greater good !!!
Thanks for reporting the measles case.
And thanks for trying to set the record straight about when the MMR is given and how the disease is spread.
It was great to read an intelligent post in here. This isn't a liberal v. conservative issue... this is a public health issue - please see it clearly.
There is no political statement in choosing not to get your kids vaccinated. There is no benefit to imagining all of the diseases that immigrants may or may not have...
Pay attention here. A baby got sick. The people who love the baby have gotten him/her the appropriate care...and reported the illness.
Let's stay healthy people.
Go eat an apple and relax.

It does not matter where they came from. The child is 8 months of age. Here in the US of A the MMR is not given to our US of A infants at that age. Given after 12 months.

OMG! The fever and rash of (gasp!)measles ... tape up your windows, keep your kids home from school ... we're all ... doomed.
It's a FEVER and RASH for Christ's sake.
According to the CDC (in the literature the general public doesn't typically see), measles is indeed circulating and is often misdiagnosed (i.e. Scarlet Fever, viral rash, etc.) because doctors don't think it circulates any longer.
Bottom line - had the child been an American citizen, doctors would not have even tested for measles and would have diagnosed the child with something else.
So unless you are immunocompromised and/or a severely malnourished child in Africa whose immune system has already taken a beating, then it's not a big deal.

Another reason the diagnosis of measles would have been dismissed. Measles in an 8 month old is very unusual. The infant is still working off the antibodies of the mom. Some overworked resident could have easily sent the child home with, DX-viral rash.

No matter how you slice it and dice it, the mother and child are roaming around in the public squares with a disease, that is airborne for at least 2 hours and all the N.C.D.O.H. can say there someone in these locations that has measles. Bull; I want a damn good description of this carriers, so as I am to know if I was in the same area or vicinity with my children as was the carriers. Not to mention this is someone that is not of this country. The "General Welfare of the Public" overrides any P.C. C R A P.

Although I don't agree that Isreal is a 3rd world country, I certainly wouldn't put it ahead of the United States, as implied by "liner".

i am directly involved- again- all of the stores were listed with times the baby was there- why do you need any other information- reading these posts have been very frightening for us- people are so angry and violent- thank goodness the goverment has laws to protect the people on this site from knowing exactly who we are. it is not just about P.C.- it is about the law and privacy- protecting all of our citizens- btw- once again- these are american citizens- not illegal immigrents- who visited another country. as americans they stood up for their country and elected to contact the board of health to protect others- everyone should be thanking them!! p.s.- the baby is much better- so shameful that no one is concerned or even asking about this tiny baby, an american citizen al well, welfare!!
good health to all

I would suspect that the chances of anyone coming down with the measles from this baby is zip to zero.
