Twelve Divine Savior Holy Angels High School (DSHA) students have been selected as National Merit Scholarship Semifinalists. The 2010 National Merit Scholarship Competition annually recognizes the academic achievements of U.S. high school seniors as determined on the basis of their achievement levels on the PSAT test.
Of the 1.5 million students from 22,000 high schools who entered the competition, less than one percent of seniors nationwide earn recognition as a Semifinalist. At DSHA, 7.6 percent of the Class of 2010 has earned this distinction.
DSHA Semifinalists are Claire Aasen, Eleanor Christenson, Chelsea Crooks, Elizabeth Gehringer, Maureen Gorman, Lauren Hammer, Elizabeth Linnemanstons, Emily Pokorny, Sarah Rieger, Amanda Savagian, Elizabeth Seward and Margaret Shelledy.
These young women have proven exceptional academic ability and potential for success in rigorous college studies. They will continue on to the Finalist competition, where they may be eligible to win over $36 million in scholarship awards. National Merit Scholarship Finalists will be announced beginning in April and concluding in July of 2010.
Divine Savior Holy Angels High School is a Catholic college preparatory high school that excels at preparing young women intellectually, spiritually, and personally. Sponsored by the Sisters of the Divine Savior, enrollment for the 2009-2010 school year is 656 students.
