If you want to post your opinion it doesn't make you ignorant. If you can't spell correctly, you look ignorant no matter what you are saying. It may be the age of the internet, but they still make dictionaries.
It's really hard to get any benefit out of any of the comments here because no one has the courage to use their actual name. If you don't identify yourself you are just wasting time and cyberspace.
This could be a really good source for exchanging ideas and information, but it is congested with people slinging mud, spreading gossip, and ruminating on the problem instead trying to find a solution.
So, here's an idea: I like living in a Mayberry-type town. I like knowing who most of my neighbors are even if they are quirky. There are things in this town that have been handled poorly, and things that are handled well. If you respond to this, talk about what you like about C.V., what is good, and something productive we can do tomorrow, even if it results from something done wrong yesterday. There is nothing to do about the past but learn from it.
Finally, if you're going to be hateful, negative, and anonymous...don't contribute to this forum.

Well said Lena. I just found out about this site today and all the negative comments on it. These type of comment are what has caused this town to come to what it is. No one has wanted change as far back as I can rember and that is over 50 years. I also agree with you have a comment be a big enough person to sign your name.

I would like to compliment the city council; they have hired a very good and professional police officer. Although, I myself have not needed him. He seems fair and knowledgeable about his job. I like the fact that he is doing his job no matter who you are in this town. I like knowing that when I go to bed at night he is out keeping an eye on what goes on around here. I certainly have noticed that the amount of vehicles racing around the streets at night has died down.

Good Job Council lets try to keep this one!

In reference to the policeman, it would be nice if he worked the school zone, like the past officers have done. It would be nice if he worked in town instead of on the highway all the time.

I thought this forum was for the positives of Cedar Vale and not the complaints. One man can't do everything. Plus I think most in Cedar Vale drive carefully in the school zone.

Lets review the guidelines folks:
If you don't have the gumption to use an actual name; go sound off in your own forum.
Try to come up with a positive solution. It takes absolutely no talent to gripe. Communication is a wonderful thing. We should try it.
As far as the local policeman; I had commented to friends that I didn't agree that he was out late at night and not patroling the school zone. It was brought to my attention that he answers to the city council and sheriff. I'm sure he doesn't make his own schedule. Most of us that work for a living don't. He seems like a nice man. I wouldn't want his job. In 27 years I have never seen a police officer that Cedar Vale didn't complain about. Let's give him a chance.

The officer should only answer to the council, as the people of Cedar Vale pay his wages. The sheriff should take care of his own business. The officer set his own schedule, he is to work 44 hours a week. How can he get overtime setting his own hours.

Well concerned, I don't know who you are, so you must not be that worried or you would divulge your name. I do believe the man is also a deputy.( Not positive, but most all Cedar Vale officers have been). That isn't a bad thing because we don't mind when sheriff deputies handle a situation in town. I personally think that we should just utilize Sheriff's deputies and forgo a city officer. People have said to me that we can't lose that revenue he brings in from issuing tickets. That's a very sad state of affairs for our city.( In my opinion )

I thought the city police was the city police and not a deputy. If you want to turn the police over to the county, why have you not moved to sedan? sounds like you want the county to run everything. If my memory is correct every time we have anything to do with the county, sedan gets it all, just like our ambulance service.

Let me apologize. I'm sorry you aren't proud enough of your opinions to reveal your name. Sorry you have selective memories. Sorry you never realized the city police also work for the county. Sedan doesn't get every thing. We didn't just turn our ambulance over to the county. That was the end result of losing the hospital and not having enough autonomy in Cedar Vale to continue to run it by the state guidlines required. Do you know anything about EMS? Did you ever have to take call for a fairly minimal wage? AGAIN - It's a lot easier to gripe than it is to come up with solution.

I beg to differ the city police does not work for the county. As for the ambulance you can thank your county commissioner for that. If you do not believe me ask around, it was not even offered to the people of cedar vale, but given to sedan behind our back. The city was raising funds for the ambulance, when it was given away.

After being at the council meeting last night. I am very sorry that Oscar has resigned, I understand the reason. We will now have no leadership or adult supervision. It will not be very long till the city is broke, may as well get ahold of a realtor and put the city on the market.

Can most of you people read!! If you want to whine and gripe start another discussion group. This one was supposed to be utilized for exchanges of ideas and solutions. Evidently Oscar did what he felt he needed to do. It is done. The world is not ending. Decide what to do next. Thirteen people were gunned down yesterday in Ft. Hood, Tx in what should be a safe place. Think about that and ask yourselves: Is this place really that bad? Please try to get past your horrible attitudes and realize what you have to be thankful for and build from there.

well as usual someone has a stupid outlook for cedar vale, now leadership or adult supervision, are you over 12 years old or in a special needs class? what exactly have you contributed to our community other than needing adult (and yes I'm laughing) supervision?

Why on earth do you think this is the end just because Oscar resigned? This is suppose to be the peoples city the peoples needs what makes you so arrogant to think a person such as Jerry Bowman wouldn't give to this town more education and experience than most of us ever dreamed of having? Do your research go talk to him ,better yet show up at a council meeting, or that's right you were there, maybe you can bring adult supervision,so you will listen instead of talking.

Unfortunately, it is much easier to whine and gripe about circumstances than to have a positive outlook, productive discussions with new ideas, and thoughts of compromise. Look outside the boundaries that you have set as your living space. There are things going on outside them that are much more immense and overwhelming. Adapt and overcome. Work together toward a common goal. YOU make the changes that you want to see in the world.
