It is a shame for the police and coast guard to give up. This is not human like. What if this was their daughter or the president of united states? My prayers are with Mr. Khan's family. I wish them miracle.

They did not say the investigation was over just the water search. Might be more to this story.

amaris diaz; Darling, I am so sorry for your loss of a classmate. I am not trying to be mean about her going. I think grownups should look out for their children. It makes me angry when they don't think. We expect children to think, and yell at them if they do something stupid. I am yelling at a grownup, who should have known not to let a little girl onto a big lake by herself. Her dad should have made sure she was safe.

Who would place a child (no life jacket, no attendance) on Lake Michigan? Don't do stupid things! I understand your comment but they are a good family who has always been good to the school.

I pray that your little girl is safe, and will arrive home soon. I know Sofia. I went to her school and am a graduate of this year. We were close. She was hyper, energetic, outgoing, and hilarious. My prayers go out to the Khan family. WE LOVE YOU SOFIA! <3

Who would place a child (no life jacket, no attendance) on Lake Michigan? Don't do stupid things! Who gives you a right to jugdge, without even knowing the family. For your information they do not live off the lake, so no, they wouldn't be that familiar with it. The father had also taken some precautions to not allow the kayak to 'float away'. No one is perfect in this world. The parents are wonderful people who bend over backwards for their kids as well as their friends'. To say they are stupid and that their 'blood-line should not be continued' is extremely harsh and offensive. Do you have any idea how the father is feeling right now...how it feels to watch your daughter float away, not being to do anyting to help.....I don't think so, so until you know how that feels, you should be a bit more considerate to other people's pain and suffering. My prayers are with them and I hope Sofia is found soon.

If you don't want to be supportive or kind then don't post a comment all together, this is an adult telling another adult not to post a idiotic comment. That being said...prayers go out to her family.

Milly, Everyone is right you are total in the wrong for even thinking it is okay to post a comment like that. Having a child of my own I can just imagine what those parents are going through. The hardest thing a parent can do is have to say "Goodbye" to their child, I would never be able to do it. I hope this little girl is found soon so that the parents can morn in peace. With all the media coverage it can't be easy. I know it wasn't easy for my family when my uncle (who was killed in a industrial accident) was all over the news. Her, her family and friends are in my prayers...
