They do make good cakes and have the monopoly on those petite' fours. Does anyone know their cake ingredients by any chance though? I'm needing some made but have a friend that is allergic to almond flavoring. I've tried calling and asking them info, but they won't give out anything. I really wish I knew. Does anyone know?

Does anyone else make them? Highland Park Grocery used to before they closed.

No almond in the cake. If you ask about any product allergy, we try our best to help anyone with info. Just don't ask for the "recipe". So many people want our trade secrets!! Hope that helps.

I would agree with you. Sam's has the best tasting cakes in Jackson. Throw in the low price and you are just crazy to pay more than $20 for a cake anywhere else that will not taste near as good.

Their cakes and cupcakes are good. You can get 30 cupcakes for $14.90 and that includes tax. I just bought some yesterday for a birthday and they are not stingy on the icing either plus they tatse awesome.

Shirley's cakes and cookies are dry!!! They used to be better but I'd buy a cake at Wal Mart before I would Shirley's. Plus they have workers who are not so friendly!!!

Not so friendly? That is putting it nicely, downright rude is more like it.

I am planning a wedding. I have heard bad reviews. Their cakes have lost quality in the past few years.

You're right. The cakes have lost their quality. And the workers are very rude. Especially the big girl with dark hair. She has a nasty attitude to go along with the dry cakes.

I agree about the rude dark haired girl. Her name is Dawn. I was in there Sat and she is veryyy rude and there was so much tension in there. Not the first time I have seen her act short n rude with customers. They have lost my business for good.

I agree with you disgruntled she is very rude doesnt care how she treats customers you would think Shirley would do something about the problem before she runs a lot of her business off she must not care either. It's sad. I dont like going in there because of her.

I know several people who won't go back in there because of her. And these were regular customers. Apparently Shirley doesn't care about her business or she would get rid of her!
