Fire consumes 500 tons of hay

A hay fire in a large barn on the Isleta Pueblo is no longer putting nearby homes in Bosque Farms danger, according to a spokeswoman for the pueblo.

Doesn't the Pueblo have their own fire department to take care of things on their reservation?(just a question, not picking on them now)

Next if we are not allowed to take pictures on the reservations why then is the news copter allowed to do so?

And it is not a barn, it is a hay shed.

Why would the news station dispatch their helicopter to the scene? This isn't that news worthy...a fire...wow! Hay...even more wow!

bluntly spoken im sure if your property was on fire you'd appreciate it if your fire crew got some help. especially if they were pretty small and consisted only of volunteers. nothing wrong with neighbors helping eachother out. secondly, its a news copter shooting a fire. its not someone with a camera in hand snapping photos of the pueblo on the ground.

Sure, I guess you have no animals that need hay. And I guess you are sooooo used to fires being in CA and all, that a fire in NM that get reported really bothers you.
Maybe I should start checking the CA news, but then again, I have a life.

As I said it was a question, not picking on them ok.

Second if it is against the law to take pictures then that means all, not exceptions for news copters. Sorry but if they can fly over and take pictures so can others take pictures in cars or on the train.

What exactly are they hiding that they don't want others to take pictures?

To be more direct they don't own the sky and scenery which is what most people taking pictures of are taking, snow capped mountains, sunsets, cloud formation etc.

I can understand to a point if your inside the reservation but from highways and in the sky, sorry that is public property.

To disagree would be like saying you cannot drive by my home and take pictures of it without my written permission and paying me for the right to do so.

Yes I would appreciate others helping me if I had a fire or another problem.

Short Answer: Federally recognized tribes are Sovereign Nations & can do & say whatever they want on their own land. Period.

I believe the fire was in Bosque Farms, not Isleta. KOB has it written differently in different places, so hard to know for sure.

Chacal Haystack is one of the largest farm supply businesses in NM. It's located in Bosque Farms which is right next to Isleta Pueblo. I imagine the reason the news is covering it is because houses were in danger and since 500 tons of hay burning produces a lot of smoke that can be seen for miles and people all over the city wanted to see what was burning south of town. To the person in Santa Clara CA who commented. Your right, This wouldnt be news in CA where your states always on fire, having a mudslide or bankrupt.

We can debate this issue till both of us die but to make it simply for you to try and understand, their American Citizens, they should be subject to the same laws we are and not allowed special privileges anymore.

If you want to push this issue then try this, if they are as you claim (not saying their not) then they should not be allowed to use the USA courts to sue for any reason, period.

We cannot sue them in a court other then theirs, that is a double standard and 100% unfair.

Now that I can accept and understand for news purposes, to say another fire in the Bosque would not be anything new but to say a fire on the Reservation, well that would be something new.

But they use the word "barn" and not shed, to me a barn is an enclosed building and not a covered shed, and to be more correct even shed is not the right word but cannot think of a roof without walls wording.

Chical Haystack in not in Bosque Farms; it is located on the west side on NM 47 on tribal property. The Bosque Farms Village Limits [and its sign] is further south. It is indian owned & operated on property belonging to the tribe.

They don't want anyone taking pictures of the cars they finance through our local banks because they say screw em, they can't come on the rez to repossess them. Isleta has a lot of them.
