I don't know what happened. Why do you post stuff and not tell the story. Guess if I lived in that town I would know, hu.

I don't know who originally posted, but here is a brief overview of the story:

"A 14-year-old Cedar City resident from the Buena Vista subdivision off of Highway 56 was flown to Primary Children's Hospital in Salt Lake City by Life Flight after being accidentally shot by a .22-caliber pistol.

The boy and his 11-year-old sister had been playing with air soft guns, according to Iron County Sheriff Mark Gower, when a real firearm was somehow picked up by the sister.

Gower said the sister fired the gun, hitting the boy in the neck, causing possible spinal cord injuries.

The boy is currently in critical condition in a hospital unit that specializes in spinal cord injuries, Gower said,. He added that the family's name is not yet being released in respect of the current trauma they are experiencing.

To see the complete story, please read Thursday's edition of The Daily News."

All in all, I think that this is very sad. Whoever sat there laughing at this tragedy has some real mental issues.

It is sad. She was 11, did she not know what a real gun looked or felt like considering it was in her house? My children are young and I keep a gun in my house for protection. They know it is dangerous, and if a parent has a gun they should inform the children about it. The story seems kindof fishy to me, or the parent didn't think to explain gun safety to their children, which is the first thing you do when you have a gun around children. Either way it's a sad story.

Oh well. Crap happens. Maybe the parents will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.

WOW!!! Thats a harsh thing to say. Apparently you know alot about the story. I know she was 11, and in my opinion I would think that an 11 year old would know better, but I guess it depends on how their raised. My children are young and they know all about guns. " THEIR DANGEROUS "

Guns are only dangerous when left in the hands of those who are uninformed in their use and potential power. The adult who left the gun out and available for the children to "play" with is culpable and should be charged to the fullest extent that the law allows.

The person who left the gun out should also be charged and responsible for the medical costs of the child, NOT the insurance company.

For your information the gun was in a gun cabinet that was not locked. The mother was protecting the children by having that gun there so that is she had to use it it would be there and ready for use. she had the gun out to PROTECT the family. Not to harm them! Don't twist words if you don't know the whole story!

"For your information the gun was in a gun cabinet that was not locked."

No kidding. Had the owner of the gun had it under lock it would not have been used by a minor.

The Mother is to blame for this incident.

Great parents in Cedar City. They drag their kids down the road to death and let them play with loaded guns. What a white trash town.

Slow down! You're trying to do too much and it's driving you - and everyone else - up the wall. What's more, if you're in too much of a hurry you'll start to become accident-prone and that will make you even more het up. Try to take any setbacks or domestic mishaps in your stride, otherwise you'll end the day feeling like a nervous wreck.
