On April 10, between 3:30pm and 4:00pm, I was walking into the mall at the entrance where Subway is located. My 10 year old son was having an attitude. While trying to calm him down, I heard a woman's voice 20 yards behind me tell someone to "get in the car". I turn around and some guy is looking dead at me. I wanted to ask him what the problem was, but didn't because my son was there. He had a radio and other items on his belt I couldn't discern, so I figure he was probably a cop or other emergency personnel. I don't even live in the Richlands area or even in Virginia for that matter. I can't figure out why he would even try to confront me. He had no reason. I'd like to know what the deal is.

I can't figure out where you gather that I heard a woman's voice and saw a man. I'm quite sure he wasn't a fag. Bear with me and let me outline it for you. As my son and I were walking toward the canopy on the mall building, The aforementioned man AND woman were walking toward their parked vehicle. A few seconds later, the woman told the man, "get in the vehicle". Being aware of my surroundings and knowing no one else was in the car park, I instinctively turned around and saw this man staring me down. The woman was AT THEIR VEHICLE telling him to get in. Perhaps it could have been a case of mistaken identity, because I never before saw or recall knowing these people. I JUST WANTED TO KNOW WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS! I would appreciate it if you could refrain from personal insults in the future. Hope this clears it up for you.

Who knows, I'm learning that there are a lot of idiots in the area. The guy may or may not have been going to confront you. If he was, he was probably unstable, since normal people wouldn't intervene in defense of a kid throwing a tantrum. For all you know the guy could have came and forced your kid from you and took him..or worse. I think everyone (mostly) needs to get a concealed weapons permit and carry when at places like walmart. There are more dangers there than you'll ever know.

Thanks for the kind words. I have a CCW issued by the State of West Virginia for 9 years now. Perhaps my physical size (6' 230 lbs) and awareness of surroundings may have averted some sort of potential danger. Maybe it was some goofball that don't have kids of his own. Of course, I don't think he had taking my kid on his mind. If that were the case, I believe he would have been more subtle about it. Concerning CCWs, I feel that as American citizens, we shouldn't have to have them. The way I see it, the Second Amendment is our permit. Thanks for your concern. Speaking of idiots, did you get a load of post #2?

oh believe me it is. All the small towns in here are the same backward, uneducated, and lack of adequate. They do need to get out and smell the coffee from a bigger city

i grew up in richlands, graduated in '06, and now i live in bristol; i could care less about your physical size and or education; what in the hell does that have to do with ANYTHING. for the love of god, how dare anyone, man OR woman, have the audacity to say anything in the claypool hill parking lot. wow. you talk about richlands being filled with ingnorant people, but you come on topix to ask what the "issue" is? did it ever occur to you that he just maybe, maybe happened to say that during the time your child was throwing a tantrum? i reccomend that you take some of your next paycheck, and go buy some therapy, because, madam, you are an idiot. a very large idiot.

To ladyvols:

First off, let me suggest that if you are going to call me an idiot..er..a very large idiot and an inbred hick from WV, to brush up on that butchered-up grammar first. I couldn't understand half of your post. Please clarify.

Oh, yeah. If you had read ALL the posts instead if just singling out mine, due to strong prejudice toward West Virginians, you would see that I DID NOT make the statements about the fair city of Richlands being a breeding ground for ignorance. That was the work of "Malice" and "angry".

BTW I am sir, not madam. My son has ADHD, which brings a little more difficulty. You weren't there. What do you know? What makes you think you can tell me to get therapy? Like I said, you weren't there. I'm assuming you don't have kids of your own.

ladyvols, you need to write plain and simple on topix, as you know most of the people here UNEDUCATED and won't understand a dam thing you write. Plus why are you so angry with "Malice" and "angry" what is it they wrote that you didn't like. That is the truth about this town and you know it. Bristol is still better then this town

To hello:

I'm not trying to be spiteful or malicious. I simply do not appreciate it when someone trashes me for no reason. She was not angry with "Malice" or "angry". I ended upon the receiving end of her hissy-fit. I never posted anything about Richlands being ignorant. Anyone can take the time to actually read the posts and see that I didn't do it. Of course, ladyvols didn't stop there. She had the collosal nerve to suggest I need therapy. Can you say "glass houses"? Also, I was called "a very large idiot" and she acted as if it were HER decision whether I should have posted it on topix or not. I surprised I haven't been called the "I" word yet.

I, personally, find it hillarious that in the midst of the West Virginia bashing by the Richlands and Bristol, TN residents that the only one who made sense or could even spell was the West Virginia native. Nice going on showing the level of education in this area.

I'm actually a Buchanan County native, but don't tell anyone(LOL). The WV bashing was suggested by me, so 'ladyvols' could see firsthand how it is to get words put in HER mouth. Since I was the one accused of bashing Richlands, anyone with even half a brain can take the time to read all the posts would see that. I do hope to move to TN upon retirement or sooner (hopefully sooner lol). Anyway, thanks for the kind words.

This site should be called "The World's New Bathroom Wall".

Ok, here's the deal. I grew up in Richlands and moved away as an adult, to a very big city I might add, so the comment from "angry" about no one ever experiencing any other place is absurd. By the way "angry", its spelled DUMB, as in "you are the dumb one". I also am educated, much more than you obviously because over half your post was mispelled and made very little sense. Second of all, using proper words or "bigger" words to try to sound intelligent is not fooling anyone "puzzled". The truth is your posts are ridiulous and have no validity anyway. Who cares what someone said in a parking lot? Reality check my friend, the world does not revolve around you or your screaming kid. Don't flatter yourself by thinking you are being confronted because some chic told a guy to get in the car or whatever nonsense you are spewing, the moral of the story is that you are silly and your comments are laughable and you should really get a life and stop trying to make something out of absolutely nothing just to get attention.

Who ever it was throwing off on welch and the mcdowell area does not know the area or people that well. There are very rich intelligent people who do live there. It is hard when you have adhd kid people do stare at you from time to time. They do not understand kids with disabilites. Even though they look normal does not mean they have problems. Everyone knows when you have one of those kids they are seeing a doctor duh! It is a mental disorder and they usually act up in public so people who look at you are the uneducated ones. I got your back.

Well I see "The Belted Earl" has spoken.

At least I do know what those "Proper Words" mean there, Mr. Rhodes Scholar. I don't consider being confronted by a total stranger as nothing. Why would he be staring me down the way he did? Tell me it wasn't you. First of all, I don't think the world revolves around me or my 'screaming' kid. Lay off my kid. I saw the situation as serious and wanted info. Yeah, I shouldn't have posted it on Topix, I'll give you that. For you to say I'm silly, my comments have no validity and I'm only trying to flatter myself is totally uncalled for on your part. You don't know me and you weren't there (or were you?). I can only hope it never happens to you or yours, but if it does, let me know how you handle it. Adios, my "friend", and best of luck to ya!
