I am so proud of the law enforcement agencies in Tazewell. The extremely sad state of affairs stems from the fact that I recognized so many names of students who graduated with me from THS. These, of course, were the family names of my friends from 40 years ago. These are their children, and in some instances, their grandchildren. The Drug Task Force coordinated efforts throughout the county in making these long-awaited arrests. I still live in Florida as I am not retired. However, we do spend a great amount of time in Tazewell. I never considered that heroin would be sold locally. Of course, its popularity is due to the fact that it is cheap. This is a highly dangerous street drug as the individual never knows the quality of what he/she is buying on the streets. About ten years ago, The New York Times Sunday Edition focused its entire magazine section on Tazewell County. How in the world did this dire situation come to fruition. Not to seem redundant, however kudos to the entire Drug Task Force of Tazewell County. I also include a multitude of thanks to Emergency Services within the county. Well done, and Godspeed, ladies and gentleman!

It depends upon whether it was, indeed, a felony conviction. Is this individual just charged and awaiting trial? There are so many variables here. I would venture to say that if apprehended with a weapon, he would go straight to the nearest jail. A license to carry is very difficult to obtain.
