Chestertown is probablly one of the most backward towns in the whole damn country. Everyone who lives in it should think about moving to West Virginia

well I don't think WV is like chestertown we have indoor plumbing. But with that said it isn't for just anyone you have to be a redneck to like it here. If you have some redneck kids too they can ride around the local plaza and well drink and ride around the plaza some more and well thats it thats all they do and is to do. Now if you arent in to redneck things there is the crack issue seems like everyone here is on it now. Dam crack heads. But really it's a nice place to live if you can afford $900 up to $2000 in rent unless you would like to live in the crackhead neiborhoods. But I dont think kingstown apartments have any openings.

The people in Chetertown are rednecks and aholes. I grew up in that nightmare of a redneck dungeon. A bunch of drunken idiots live there. When I moved out of the place I felt like I was freed from jail. You have a small group of people who run the town and do whatever they want to whoever they want. Everyone wants to know everybody's business. It is a nice place to visit but you don't wanna move there....

The town lacks opportunity...especially for African American youth. The best thing I could have done was attend college in Baltimore and never look back. The town has no interest in modern development or expansion. I would never move back even to raise a family. Although, my High School experience was filled with the likes of three state championships (1-Lacrosse, 2-football) and lots of laughs....the school has even gone to hell.

First and foremost you people need to educate yourself about WV before speaking out of line. I was born in chestertown and yes it has it's redneck ways what small town doesn't. I moved out of chestertown and I live in WV and not only do I have indoor plumbing but I live in a house worth 450,000. Plus we have a racetrack with a casino what do you all have OOPs nothing. So stop making comments about places you don't have a clue about. Have a wonderful day

When my husband told me that we were moving to Chestertown, I cried like a baby. That was in 2004. Today I am involved with the local chapter of moms club, where I have made great friends (and to everyone's surprise, non of them own a farm and were educated). We bought a house by the water and now enjoy beautiful sunsets on the Bay. My kids LOVE IT, and when I ask my 14 old, All Star "stud" if he would move back, he quickly says NO! See, even thought some people are "loaded" from family heritages or just plain old hard work, there is no pretentions. The farmers live a full, hard working life, enjoying what they do, the "rednecks" go hunting and do what they like, us we go boating, and I go with my girsfriends to fabulous restaurants or to the afternoon tea in one of the historic places. There are also incredible coffee houses that kicks Starbuck's back! My 6 year old daughter juts started K and loves it. In the parking lot of the school you see a lot of truck, but you also see a couple of cadillacs, BMWs and Lexus. Progress, well I really think it depends on the person... We established our business in Chestertown and it has flourished... The only thing that is ackward is that because the Kent County government is opposed to the destruction of their farmland (good for them), growth has been slow. So there is not much shopping such as Walmarts and such. So you have to plan to go to Dover or Middletown, which is in DE with tax free shopping. I like it now A LOT, because rather than always being in the rat race, I now take time to see the beauty that God gave us. My kids play less electronic games and go fishing and swimming more! It is a different lifestyle, but one that (with the right attitude) you will learn to love. If you have children, go to the visitor's center and look us up for MOMS Club of Chestertown. I will show you around.... ;O)

I moved from Baltimore to Chestertown almost a year ago. To be truthfull, I didn't want to move so far away from my friends and family. But I did and now I have soo many new friends, and i'm actually happy. I miss Baltimore like crazy, but Chestertown rocks. You got a problem, then up yours. But before you insult a town, get to know the people there first and LEARN HOW TO FRICKIN SPELL.

I don't think you grau8ted from chool. Names of cities and towns should be in BIG letters. Speak for your self. People moving into the area make jobs for people like you who work at the local store.

I do not live in Richmond. I live in Dover, Delaware. I lived and worked in Chestertown. Most of the people there are wonderful. There are a few that think just because they have money they are better than others. On the other hand, I know many people who have money and would be just as comfortable at a redneck party as the rest of us. In Chestertown, money follows money. Money talks, bull**** walks.

Interesting posts here. My experience living in Chestertown found it to be a charming little town. Washington College provides extra cultural opportunities (concerts, lectures) that might be missing from other rural towns, the downtown provides enough variety of unique little shops and restaurants to keep you busy but not break your wallet trying something new every week, and the river is gorgeous!

Plus it is close enough to major cities like Baltimore and DC to allow for day-trips there while the strong zoning policies have confined more commuter sprawl compared to many other Shore counties.

There are some difficult people living in C-town sure, just like in anywhere else, but there is enough of a tolerant population there as well that doesn't deal in drama and narrow-minded views to make the average person content. The crack trade is a problem but for bettor or worse it is pretty much a self-contained population and doesn't dominate the flavor of the town.

They say it takes about a year for a place to start feeling like home, keep that in mind, but Chestertown draws you in much sooner. Anywhere you live, you have the power to make it a positive, interesting experience or to limit yourself to negativity.

PS - Please don't let the scary confederate posts turn you off. While this is a caucasian-majority town, most people don't think it's still 1862 and enjoy diversity. Come into the 21st century my friends, join us!

Daily Horoscope for December 4

Aquarius

It's so easy to deceive yourself in some way today, especially if you allow wishful thinking to get the upper hand. Don't ignore some unpalatable facts, Aquarius, or the situation will be compounded. Are you trying to keep on the right side of someone you admire or respect? Does this mean presenting a false or highly selective image of yourself? I hope not.
