You can say this all you wish, but it will not make it true, or correct. I'm sorry, but it's that simple.

It is so reassuring that with more and more people getting college educations, and all the modern sources for enlightenment that a pathetic handful of Ignoramus's and Bigots still hang on lest the rest of us forget about you entirely, and fall into some new ignorance or bigotry.

Thanks for reminding the rest of us why we never want to be anything like you. Besides you're just not funny outside of a skinhead or KKK meeting, and they're all imbeciles too.

Excellent example. One who ignores a few facts can always sell his argument to the dim witted.
Cigarettes have no nutrition, they only do damage. Even candy bars offer some nutrition, though we are now an obese nation that probably would be healthier if we stopped eating them.
The tar and Nicotine from cigareetes is hardly different than s+ucking on a cars tailpipe. Cancer Acceleration is pretty much its only function. If there were any other the Tobacco Lobbyists would have plastered it on TV and Billboards a long time ago.
Cell phones have yet to be proven dangerous, and they may be, but they were not designed for the purpose of giving cancer. Cigarette companys knowingly made them more addictive knowing they would cause cancer. And designed ads to lure the young into using this addictive cancer causing device. They'd have been handing them out in grade schools if we'd have let them.
Cell phones probably kill most from texting while driving and Yenatring on the phone when people should be driving. Now that would be a great reason to out law them, and a sensible reason to be sure. Studies have shown that drunks and text messagers drive at about the same danger levels.
I have not ignored any facts, nor have I anything to sell Ed. That you would start off your response with a statement like that tells me you're fond of using red herrings to avoid an honest exchange of ideas and opinion.

I'm not interested in high school debate tactics, sorry.

Very well said, it is ALL about money, and has no relationship to ones health. I don't smoke but it is so ludicrous that the taxes are as high as they are...as you stated, make it illegal then if it is 'so wrong'. Then again ,if they did, it would be one less income stream for the Goverment.
They talk about taxing fast food, and again I don't eat fast food...but who is to say at McDonald's whether you are eating a salad or a hamburger or a shake? Will they tax only truly unhealthy items? And if its all about health...then why not tax anything with sugar if sugar is SOOOOO BAD. Why not tax anything with fat because fat can be bad.
The reality is ANYTHING can be bad if one eats/drinks/uses too much of it.
There was an idea to even add a tax to gym memberships...how ludicrous is this? Tax for people who want to try to stay or get healthy?
IT NEVER ends and these 'leaders'(and that term is used very loosely) never appear to CUT OUT the clear wast that is evident at EVERY level. Instead, with the thousdans of special districts and taxes they all want their share of the pie so they can continue to grow the waste.
Anyone that cannot clearly see that eventually the tax will be YOUR tax on yet another item that suddenly is judged to be not safe, or unhealthy or dangerous...when in fact what it really is, is a way to make more TAX dollars for our black hole governments at every level so they can continue to waste more.
I mean they are appealing this ruling...yet in reality it could and probalby will go to the supreme court where it will be upheld, yet all the money on litigation because these counties want MORE taxes....yet, if they just cut out the waste they wouldn't be crying for more money to waste.
Good God it just never ends.
You summed it up perfectly.

I'm a former smoker, and like you seldom eat fast food. Perhaps 3-4 times per year at the most...But I'm staunchly against all this taxation nonsense, for the reasons you mention. It's a money grab, and has nothing to do with our health.

Essentially, it is now politically safe to demonize smokers and tax them. Much of the country applauds it in fact, in their ignorance, and will continue to do so until they become the next demon...That's the day I cannot wait to see.

The people who today applaud all this insane taxation of smokers, will one day become victims of their own ignorance. It will sneak up on them j just as it did the smokers, and they will be powerless to stop it.

As long as they smoke 'em and use the products on the Res, NO PROBLEM.
If they take 'em off the Res, NY sales and use tax applies.
And you can take that to the bank and/or clink.
Your choice.
Buy anything in Massachusetts and bring it into NY then pay the NY sales tax. Why have NYers give money to Mass when they can buy the product in NYS. Do it to the Indians then it should be done everywhere else not just to the Indians. Haven't we taken enough from them. Taxing the Indians would be just another form of American GREED!!!!!

Incorrect. This is what NY State wants people to believe, and precisely what it wanted people caught on customer lists of Native American cigarette sellers to believe when NY State sent out tax due letters to them.
The fact is that some people paid these bills out of ignorance and fear, while others did not, have not and will not pay them because NY State has failed to provide the NY State Tax Code which requires it.
There is not one single case in NY State where a person has been legally prosecuted for tax evasion due to failure to pay taxes on cigarettes purchased on Native American soil. Not one.
Why? Because the State cannot prosecute them. It has no law on its side because such a law does not exist.

Neither did the courts my friend which, if you read the article, agreed with the Natives.

As for a summons...the state didn't issue me a summons. It did issue a close friend of mine a collection letter, with the same phony NYS Tax Code citation they sent everyone else which equated a United State with a sovereign Native American Territory.

I represented my friend, and demanded to exercise our right to appeal their determination. A mere 5 weeks later, we received a letter informing us the matter had been "corrected".

Why? Because no such law exists that entitles them to levy this tax. It is just that simple my friend...I'm sorry you are having trouble accepting that.

You people all miss what is going on here. The government is taxing everything they can to find more money to give to all the Illegal programs. If they the sent them all back instead of paying for their schooling, health care, food stamps etc we wouldn't need any new taxes we would have more than enough for all of our legal programs. These liberal idiots keep giving more rights to people that shouldn't even be here or have a say they are illegals.Nothing against them but do it legally and I would say welcome to America. Please don't complain about the Indians we stole everything from them and now we give it away to the Illegals. We deserve what we get because we keep electing the same idiots who are selling out the American people.Vote out everyone that's in office clean house now that is the only message they will understand.Take back our America
