I don't think it would be fair to give money for education to those that have done wrong when cutting for those that haven't.
We keep hearing about cuts for college.
Besides should we give them what they want because they are more manageable when we pay to educate them? Isn't that rewarding bad behavior?
I'd be interested in hearing others opinions on this issue.
Have a good day

It's pretty sad when your children have a better shot at a college education if they go to prison than if they live within the law. Pathetic! People go to jail for a reason....they broke the law. I read a story a few weeks ago where a man broke into a house and murdered his ex-girlfriend. He was senteced to 20 years for the murder and 32 years for the break in!!! I find it disturbing that a door was apparently viewed as more valuble than this womans life. Now this SOB will go to prison where he will have the chance to get a college degree on my dime.

Adamantly opposed for paying for college education to an inmate.GED or high school maybe but when I have to go in debt as well as my child to get his/her degree after 18 years of good to excellant behavior I say NO to inmates.

I say let's send them to Iraq, pass prison/jail--a free roof and meals, medical care etc--and put them in a special unit of the military where they are heavily guarded and THERE they can get an education!!

I think there should be a program out there that gives inmate grants for college. Not every person that goes to jail is a bad person! People learn from there mistakes and deserve a second chance! School can change there life! School can take them off the streets and give them something postive to thrive for and it feels great to make accomplishments. Of course the inmate would have to qualify for this grant. were not talking about murders and people who will never change. were talking about young children and adults who have a chance to turn there life around. This would not be praising the bad, this would be chanaging the world our people. OBAMA

I prefer to use the monies for the young students who have not needed to go to jail for any reason.Let's reward those that have lived their life's being obediant not those who participated in illegal activities. Why not make the inmates do their time and get out of jail and go to school just like all of the rest of students with loans. Most of your middle class high achieving students are straddled with huge debts while striving to BETTER themselves. Before you know it you will find some going to jail just to get an education for free.Let them go into the military if they want it for free.

The NRCC must be getting desperate to take money that has been obtained through fraud by a man Ahmet Sandikci. The NRCC has nominated this guy for Entrepreneaur of the Year to be awarded at the Senate House Dinner on Jun 8, 2009. Sandikci owns Arcade Currency Palace in Florida and has scammed Americans and is now using that money to buy up politicians in the USA through the Turkish Coalition of America. Sandikci is a liar and crook and I guess money donated to the NRCC overlooks this crook and his scams on the American people. This guy is a liar and a smooth operator nice guy type who is using the american political system like they endorse his scams on us Americans. I suggets you call your political leaders and voice your opposition. Just Google this guy's name (Ahmet Sandicki) or his business Arcade Currency Palace.

If you want people in Ticonderoga, NY to understand what you think the National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC) is doing wrong by giving an award to Ahmet Sandikci, you will have to be a lot clearer. I suggest you start a separate topic about this. The Correctional Association of New York, a group most Republicans would probably label "liberal-leaning" would,(if they cared at all), probably not mind that this GOP-funded group give an award to this person. If this Ahmet Sandikci is found to be a criminal after the fact, it would be detrimental to the Republican party. Big deal, whats another Republican crook? No one in upstate NY knows who he is except the odd numismatist.

You gotta be kidding me. what a load of crap. If they are in jail thats were they belong. why should any inmate have any rights especially when the expence falls on the taxpayers. SOB's get better TV's , Health care, coffee, schooling than I can get without spending more than I can afford. now lets give them college. WTF I know what it cost me why should they get it free.

To some of what you say I agree but not at the expense of the children that have done no wrong and are graduating from our scholls with the sad knowing that they can not go to college.
I say give help to the children that haven't broke the law first and if, only if there is a surplus of funds educate those inmates that are truly worthy of it.
