I am sorry for the lost that this family has had. However, didn't the state pay this family a nice amount of money for his death on the job?? She (his wife) still gets his check each month, his social security and his insurance for her and the children. Also, his children are getting a social security check. How much more do they want??

Some people never get enough. You know that in addition to the money you are talking about, this young guys insurance company will pay alot of money to the family also even if they don't sue.

It's not like the family said, "Hey, everybody, can you give us some money?" And you have no idea what their circumstances are. Maybe the driver didn't HAVE insurance. And who knows if they've even got the state check yet? Government never moves at breakneck speed. For all anyone knows, they could have been caring for elderly relatives, saving to buy a house, etc. The money being raised might be going to a college fund or some other worthy cause.

This familys loss is terrible , but something that could have been adverted. 25 years of traveling up and down I-95 in construction zones there is something they call the wall of life. This is a huge wall that is pulled with a truck it is set up behind workers to protect their lives. But S.C.D.O.T is clueless in getting this life saving device or to cheap. This way if their is a drunk, or someone who should not be on the road like the Idiot who fell asleep and killed this man they they only take themselves out!!!!!!!!!

What does it matter how much they get or where they get it from. They have friends who want to help and this was a way to help them. There are some cruel people who have negative things to say about everything. Put yourself in their situation.

First of all you don't know this person. You really shouldn't be passing on judgement on something that you really are clueless to the fact. She never asked for the fundraiser but the community that we live in wanted to give her back something the money can't ever bring her husband back. She always volunteers at school, ball field and everything. Im sure that that she probably will be taken care of with the insurance money. But Im sure she would much rather have her husband back. She don't want something for nothing.

No one really knows the truth about the accident but the driver and his family! no one knows what he's going through...what his family's going through...what his FIANCE and his unborn child are going through! They're has been 473 other deaths just this year...not that standra jones wasn't important because a child of god...everyone that he put on this earth is but no matter what the driver doesn't deserve the torture from the state or the community. he already has a problem living his life the same...money can't replace her husband but taking the driver away from his fiance and soon born child won't bring him back either! what is so different about the standra jones case than anyother dot worker being killed on the job!?? and others didn't just fall asleep..they raced, drank, smoked, whatever but an honest person that goes to work full time from 4:30am to 5pm and then school full time from 6pm to 10:30pm has to deal with this for the rest of his life and he just turned 19! his life hasn't even started...neither did his fiance's or babies! why can't he have a chance to know his child??
