I saw it this morning. I couldn't get over it. The whole first level is gone. Bet those firefighters are wore out. It looked like there was several depts there.
Maybe it was a meth lab? But I doubt it would be a Cave City officer.
I wish people wouldn't state things until they really know the facts. People just run with whatever these days.

Second level, not first. Will they have to tear the entire thing down now or can it be fixed?

There is no way that the cause of the fire can be determined yet. The fire inspector is there and until he posts his findings, everything said on here is pure rumor and nothing but rumor

I had heard a rumor that the owner I believe who's name is Vic Patel had been in financial difficulties and was trying to sell the Comfort Inn.
Back in January 1996, a fire destroyed a Howard Johnson in Bowling Green, it was later determined it was set by the owner and resulted in the deaths of 4 people staying at the hotel. If I was the police I would first rule out arson and if arson is the cause, I would thoroughly
investigate the owner.
WBKO also reported at there 11 AM news, that a firefighter was injured. Does anyone know the extent of the injuries?
yes he was hurt
i think he had the hot foot

You all are so immature !!! Why do you try to start rumors on here!! I was on the scene for 6 hrs. not a damn thing about the meth lab or the CCPD is true!!! As a matter of fact I commend the officer for his quick response time and thinking he helped evacuate the building, possibly saving several lives!!! Sounds like something to joke about HUH!!

Vic Patel also owns the Comfort Suites behind the Comfort Inn. Do not think he was having financial problems, probably just trying to sell the Comfort Inn since its 10+ years old.

The Comfort Inn that burned down was in the process of changing to a Quality Inn (ask around Cave City). Look at some of the pictures, the Comfort Inn sign on top of the canopy was removed to be replaced. It was in the process of changing into a Quality Inn. All Comfort Inns need to be indoor. This was a out door Comfort Inn ready to give up its flag. There is a reason why he built another Comfort Inn. I was in trying to get build a Comfort Inn, but they gave him first dibs.

The fire was started by a vent fan in the attic and as far as the rumor you heard about Vic Patel having financial difficulties, it's just that, a rumor and I can assure you that is not the case. Vic Patel is a great guy to work for and in fact the hotel was actually undergoing a total renovation and going to re-open under the Quality Inn flag. Be thankfull no one was injured or killed.

As an employee of both the Comfort Inn and the Comfort Inn & Suites I can tell you that the older Comfort Inn was in the process of changing its flag to a Quality Inn. I assume you are in the hotel business Tim S.? As I see, you do seem to know the Choice Hotels International standards.

The investigation by the State Fire Marshalls states the fire started in a vent fan on the 2nd floor.
