I'm starting this forum because something has to be said and hopefully action will be taken. I attended the Kentucky State Gospel Singing Convention this past weekend as I have for more than 20 years now. I'm probably more familiar with the sing than most of the singing groups that attend. I'm completely appalled as to how the Sneed Family has literally taken over the open event! They were the only group who were allowed to set their product table in the absolute front almost blocking the door. All other participants had to set up in a completely different room... That's not fair!! Every banner or graphic pertaining to The Kentucky State Sing was actually promoting the Sneed Family!! Again, That's Not Fair!! Now here is the kicker.... The Sneed's were allowed to use their own wireless microphones and ear monitors... to which no other participants were allowed to use... All other singers had to use the "house" mics and monitors of a very low sound and quality. By using the "house" mics all groups sounded as if they were in a barrel or muffled and the monitors were not effective at all. All groups stated that I talked to, that on stage they literally couldn't hear themselves thus hindering their quality and performance!! Again,, NOT FAIR!!!! Who hosted the event through the night?.... None other than the Sneed Family... Again,, NOT FAIR.. The host needs to be someone impartial as does everything else pertaining to this event which has lost all meaning to me! It used to showcase All of Kentucky's talent... Some great, most good, and a few not so good but with true Christian intent. Now because of the president of the state sing committee, He has turned it into or tried to turn it into a little National Quartet Convention showcasing and lime lighting his own family! It's not mainstream and national nor was it meant to be. Jeff Sneed I'm calling you out specifically.. You have made a mockery of the once uplifting, honorable, talented Kentucky State Gospel Singing Convention that showcased All talent locally and regionally and have single handedly turned it into nothing short of self proclamation and promotion. Why? Are you this self absorbed and egotistical? Because you have had the opportunity to sing with national talents such as the Hopper's and others? Have you lifted you and your family on a pedestal above all other sojourners spreading what was supposed to be the same Gospel as you? In my true and experienced opinion, albeit you were allowed to use your own personal sound equipment, and in contrary to the roaring applause you received.. Your family was one of the more "pitchy" groups there and the timing was off consistently! Sometimes our eyes can get bigger than our talent. When you mix an even bigger wallet or means, if you will, we can get so self absorbed while coveting the grandeur and celebrity of all of the professional artists and talent we so mimic.. We lose a sense of reality or placement! Sometimes we even lose the compassion we need to publicly display for our peers and fellow brothers and sisters to glorify not the Father but our own heart and desires. I'm neither envious nor jealous of you or your family or the talent God has given you! I'm neither burnt, jaded, nor apathetic! I am very talented on my own,, trust me! I'm just the whispered voice that floated in the hallways and back rooms of the Cave City convention center Friday and Saturday night by the majority of the participants and patrons. A few were "two faced" but not me... Not me!! Take it to heart, I'm speaking for majority who want you to stop tainting what we all once loved and longed for annually. We want it equal and fair to EVERYONE!! Leave it alone, get out of the way, and let us return it to what we formerly held dear and nostalgic!

i was planning on attending the convention last year but family needs occured and i could not attend. I have advertised my business in the brochure that comes out the night of the convention. If this is indeed the case I will not support this convention. I travel around looking for groups to sing in our local area and do what i can to promote southern gospel music. When we are in the Lords will HE receives the glory and we are just the vessel. sounds like someone has lost sight of the prize that is in heaven, not on earth.
I also have been very disappointed in the web site. I have been looking since October 09 for that years photos and the site still says coming soon. It is now January 2010. This shows a true lack of organization and dedication.
It is sad to have something that has such potential for His glory turn into a one group show. i am praying that thing turn around.

Hey maybe not,
If you are looking for a Gospel Convention to support we are all about the Glory of God and not of the groups. and our website is maintained constantly by myself we don't have any photos as of yet, because I had to run the sound for last year's convention and I also design the booklet that we hand out for the event, and this year we have permission to use a Thomas Kinkade painting for the front cover. So check us out: www.ksgmsc.org

Bill Brady, I have tried several times this year to check your web site out and have not been able to for several months now and it's Jan 2011. I am also in a Professional Southern Gospel Quartet and was looking forward to your convention this year. Please let me know when you have the site up or something.
