Better get in line - I hear it pays $80,000 a year. That's like being a Wall Street banker in Cave City.

That last fella sure didn't last long. Sounds like they would be better off hiring someone from the area that would stay around.

I agree with local.
Evidentally the past and probably now Board and Mayor wants somebody that don't know anything about them so they can keep on crooking.

I have heard that they try to get away with a lot of things - so maybe they will hire someone from a far that doesn't know any better.

Theres positives and negatives to hiring a local person. Brian Dale was willing to stay, but he had more demons and personal issues than people on death row. I think sometimes Dales heart was in the right place, but he just got caught up in too much illegal stuff. The last guy was simply using it as career advancement and never intended to stay, I never imagined he wouldn't last more than a little over a year.

one of the council members told someone that they wanted somebody that was local that knew Cave City and the area. They will probably bring in a yankee this time.

Sounds like a crock of crap...over 300 apps....Every adult in the city must have applied. I find it hard to believe that there are 300 in the area with the skills and experience to run the place and find it harder to believe that over 300 applied, this would be an all time record for any job in barren county to have that many apps at one time. Maybe 30 but 300 is stretched.

I still find it hard to believe that there were 300 apps. I doubt that many would be willing to move to cave city for the job. If that many are willing then the town should be booming with new residents who just want to move there. They must have stopped taking the apps because a few sites say it is no longer available for employment. If I remember correct the average salary at the convention center is $38k per year. I hope they do have enough good people to take the job and the locals dont "harass" the new director if they are from another area because of past directors actions.

Tim Riddle was making $62,000.00 per yr plus any money he could save on advertisement. He left Cave City and took a job that pays 54,000 per yr. Does that make sense?? It should answer some questions. Did he get shook up with the City? I believe he did and ran as fast as he could.

I believe that it was in his best interest he figured to take anothter job in an area where he knew the job would last rather than in cc where it would be questionable because of local pressure. Many cc residents dont want "outsiders" living in the area. This was shown in 2005-2006 when many tried forcingnfamilies out of the area as well made numerous comments about others who visit the area. It is time many come to terms with life and understand cc has nothing to offer unless the people are willing to accept the changes to keep up with the modern world.

No wonder so many businesses are closing in the Cave City area - they weren't being promoted by the tourism commission - makes sense for tourism being slow.

This town is deader than a door nail and those that are supposedly leaders are only trying to find a way to pick at the bones.

Today's Glasgow Daily Times say about 30 applications received and position not yet filled. Does that mean that the committee didn't like any of those 30 who applied?

Most organizations would have a search committee that would have screened the applicants and narrowed it down to five or six candidates for follow up interviews before the full committee. Doesn't sound like they are very organized.
