Rumors have it that Nesbitt is doing away with Middle School Band.
Is this true or does anyone know?

Rumor is also that High School Art and Shop are being cut out?
If this is all true, then close the doors up there.

Please respond.

They still have shop classes at Caverna? I thought those were done away with a long time ago. Most schools do not have those offered anymore, leaving it to the trade/tech schools.

You should worry more about the fact they can't read and do math more than whether they get to finger paint and build a bird house!

I agree with you on the reading and math, but how in this world can they have a High School Band if they have to wait until High School to start.
Oh well, guess it will be like going to college, they'll have to wait until then to learn something.

Nesbit is a piece of artwork himself. He needs to be sent home to stay.. My other son, btw, learned how to make furniture in shop there, not birdhouses. Not all children are handed a silver spoon or belong to a doctor or lawyer. They don't have anything up there now to offer kids, therefore place needs to be shut down instead of getting rid of classes and making up 62,000.00 jobs for others.

If this all happens, I believe a petition will get going and soon.

As a former graduate, I'm appalled and disgusted with the way Caverna has become. A once proud school has drifted into dysfunctional hypocracy. The main purpose of this school use to be preparing students for the world after school. Now all they seem to be concerned with is whether or not they will get enough funding from the state so the school board can give themselves raises. Also, the fact that alot of the teachers they hired over the past few years were former students, and as such were mediocre classmen at best. Time to dissolved the independant school system and give the students that want one a chance and a brighter future.

most of the teachers are fine. no way to teach though when you cannot have discipline. There is no discipline in the public shcools anymore. Schools can't do it and parents won't.

Point is, they DO NOT try to teach. They won't even help the students that don't understand.
Only (1) teacher out of 7 classes will help. that's pretty bad.
Some parents do discipline, but the students get disgusted when there is no discipline.

It's all in the "Big House" and the "Board" which we have neither of.
The beginning of the school year will tell the tale as to whether it continues or is shut down by the people. It will be up to the Big boy and the Board as to who they want to remove and move on or go home.

Yes once upon a time the school was what a school should be. Now it is far from it. I removed my child from the system years ago. Best move I ever made. I would not recommend the school system to any parent that wants an education for their child. Nor would I recommend anyone moving here to live. This is no longer where you want to raise a family.

After reading this, I can only suggest that wherever you enroll your children, you might consider taking some classes yourself.

Yes the school has went down quickly but one thing that I see is parents are not as involved as they use to be. And yes alot of the teachers are just there for the money and not for the kids.Teachers sitting around talking about one another or having unecessary conversations with the students. And I do mean about their sex lives and stuff...So, we the parents, need to step up and get involved more. I use to be proud to say I was from this school but nowadays people look at you crazy when they find out what school your kids go to...

to battle ax, because I have a child there and I pay lots and lots of taxes for nothing. that's why.......

to Citizen: I have tried hard to be involved. I happen to be a parent they don't want because I am not in their click. If they don't want you, you can not help. If they do allow you to do something it is always fixing something to bring and go home.

I've tried.......... believe me.

Before you get on here telling everyone how bad the school is maybe YOU should go back to school and learn to spell and learn how to write a correct paragraph.

Whether they can spell or write a correct paragraph or not has nothing to do with knowing how that school system works. Everybody in this area and surrounding areas knows how Caverna is. The only reason the majority of the people even send their kids there is because it is CONVENIENT and that is sad but true.
