Apparently police didnt "back off" enough if he was still fleeing at high speed.

So much for the chopper eliminating high-speed chases.

Fabulous, great to see the Chopper back in the air, doing its job to find crooks that otherwise would have gotten away scott free! And doo eee says "I may sale the other chopper" What a joke!

Thank you TPD for your continued hard work. And thank you to the flight crew that puts their lives at risk everytime the rotors turn...

The report said the guy was driving erratically before the police ever got involved... enough so that someone reported him. Chances are he would have crashed at some point anyway, even if the police hadn't tried to stop him - at least he didn't hurt anyone.

I must have missed where TPD stated the Helicopter was used to eliminate pursuits. No cops or innocent citizens were hurt. I'd say the helicopter eliminated a dangerous accident with a law abiding citizen vrey well. Great job TPD. Another thug in jail!

I think it was a crew member from the other chopper trying to make a case for bird number 2.

It may have been a home invader, or selling drugs, or on parole with weapon. I am sure he was not in a hurry to vote.

In Tulsa? You're crazy. We just rehired 51 union members. Those types left Tulsa in droves yesterday.

Before we even bought our first helicopter, TPD was saying they could eliminate high speed chases if they only had a helicopter -- and then another.
Broken promises.

Well, we've only had the helicopter crash three times, so I guess were due for another.

Some of you all need to do more reading and less writing. A couple of these comments are inane. My feeling is that the helicopter allows police to "back off" or not put obvious pressure on a suspect. This only lowers the possibility that a suspect will maintain high speed. He could be drunk or on drugs or just freaked about getting caught committing a crime. People try to outrun police to avoid speeding tickets much less grand theft auto.

What the hell are you talking about? This story is not about the helicopter crashing.

I am surprised he was able to go from 21st and harvard, then all the way to where he ended up. I was driving North on Lynn Lane in BA near 61st, I was going 40, and he came up on me going atleast a good 90-100 mph, then where he tried to pass everyone at the intersection of 61st he nearly flipped the car at that time. The scarier part was someone was turing onto lynn lane from 61st, and one of the cops that was tring to catch up to the car almost tboned that car going about 70-80 mph. Every single car in the area was paying attenting expect for the car tring to turn. I am glad nothing happened to any innocent bystanders, but this is an eye opener for ppl to pay more attention to whats going on around them.

I first want to THANK GOD that this young man was not killed and that he did not kill anyone. But there is always another side to the story. What people do not know or understand is that this young man has a severe mental problem and he unfortnately has a drug & alcohol problem.I know that the system is meant to protect, but were is it set up to help people who are REALLY sick and dont know that they are ill. We are all humans and I think that as humans we should show some compassion for people who are truly ill. This young man has a past of self destruction. He is REALLY ill and instead of jail he needs to be put in a mental hospital for life. WHERE is our compassion for the mentally ill or do we just keep letting them go untill they kill someone or themselves! DEAR GOD HELP this young man! He has not killed anyone and lets help him before he kills himself or someone else. HE IS SCREAMING FOR HELP!

Apparently the helicopter doesnt make that much difference when it comes to car chases.
Everyone was hoping for better.
