No, no, no. Please don't listen to this man. Stick with the bridge.

I've always felt the Delaware route seemed more leisurely; that's not quite accurate since the high-speed DE Route 1 opened, but for those of us north of Baltimore it still usually makes sense. I agree with Mr Dresser about skipping the I-95 part. Not only are there traffic issues, but you also get tolled to death.

If you are in no hurry at all, consider exploring the "back way" through the Chesapeake City and Middletown areas and the horse country in between them.

Actually, Jim, they should not listen to you...
If you live north or west of Baltimore, go up 95 north into Delaware and take Route 1 South. This thruway takes you past Dover Speedway, into Rehoboth and down threw Dewey, Bethany and Fenwick. It's maybe 10 min. longer, but your going to have lesser volume of cars. If you want to make better time, take 113 south and skip Rehoboth, Dewey and Bethany and come in around Fenwick. Trust me. Look at a map. I'd rather go a little farther and be moving, rather than rubberneckin' on the bridge at a stinkin pelican.

Anything that will get me to OC faster and help me avoid Hillbillyville would be great!

Martin, I'd have hoped that from the rest of my post you would have realized I definitely (except for the I95 part) like the Delaware route better. My poor attempt at humour was based on not wanting the entire city to discover that route and make it as crowded as the Bay Bridge.
I'm with you, in fact, that's why I metioned the back roads out of Elkton.

A back-up on the bay bridge on memorial day weekend, I'm just shocked, shocked I tell you.
My advice leave a day early and stay a day later on holiday weekends and stop the whining.

If only it were that easy to miss work and just as easy to pay for the hotels, etc.
