Amen! The Prince of Peace would not advocate for war, yet, we treat our military adventures as if they were divine will and we glorify the gore of war. If we truly believe and trust God - not ourselves - war would be obsolete. But Americans love to go to Church on Sunday looking for holy validation for our war-like abomination. It there's a problem with a perceived or real enemy, trust, as Christians, that God needs our worship and prayers - not our meddlesome help pushing His agenda.

I think that "loving" the terrorists who want to kill us all is a bit naive and over the top, but the rest of your post is intelligent and well-taken.

Then all of Christianity is "naive and over the top."

excellent article. I was blessed by the remembrance that we need peace in this world and peace only comes as we submit to the Lordship of Christ. This can only occur if we belong to Him. War is an exact result of the inner turmoil of man to win, conquer and make subject to himself others. War is the bain of discontentment at times; and is also a result of the selfishness of mankind in not meeting the needs of others. So we war to gain as the book of James tells us in the 4th chapter.

When someone asks “what would Jesus say”, all that is needed is to consult the Gospels:
Quoting Jesus from Luke 12:49
"I have come to bring fire on the earth, and how I wish it were already kindled!"
Quoting Jesus from Luke 12:51
"Do you think I came to bring peace on earth? No, I tell you, but division"
So the Prince of Peace, a disciple of John the Baptists sought to bring fire onto the earth and not peace but division. And we have brought fire to those who have slaughtered the Mandaeans, Sodom’s regime and the Shia and Sunni death squads slaughtered the Mandaeans and persecuted them. These ancient people who like Jesus venerated John the Baptist were subjected to a holocaust and now we have punished those who persecuted the Mandaeans. The Lord’s judgment is righteous altogether

Christ's fire is just this- to make you question what has already been. At His time there had been war and it had not worked so he sought to ask us to think differently (or can you read?). How quickly you twist the gospel to justify your hateful and racist point of view. Loving ones enemies is not naive. It is extremely courageous. I dare you to have the same courage. I dare you to be willing to be crucified for it. I am that willing. I have stood in front of armed guards. I have been to jail in the name of peace. Do YOU have that kind of courage? I thought not.
Do you honestly think God is so small that he would send his son to make war? People were already war minded, hence the division you speak of. Jesus was not white. He was there in the middle east- so if you are correct than apparently HE was on THEIR side. Explain that.
War is merely and only a pathetic human condition- no wiser than animals who must be smarter than the avg human based on Friend of John's posting.
War has NOTHING to do with the God of Peace we worship as Chirstians. Stop manipultaing your version of the scriptures to back-up hate mongering. Go crawl in Rush's pocket and shut up.
