Does Ms Stritch realize that if she worked for a manufacturing company and 50% of the output couldn't pass final inspection, union or no union, she would be unemployed. Thank your stars that you have a job where you can't be fired for poor results.

BTW, in NCLB the Feds have provided a tool to identify sources of problems, but your colleagues have chosen to "teach to the test" to prevent any meaningful analysis.

P.S. If you're short of money, get a summer job!

Oh puh-leeze!

She probably makes $50K a year, easy, with ten sick days, another ten vacation days and, of course, the usual Christmas and Easter breaks - as well as the entire summer - off. And don't forget the thousand three-day weekends and weather days.

The only thing worse than a whining teacher is the reality that despite every benefit they get, they don't even teach.

And just think, you belong to a union. A defanged union. One that exists solely to propagate its political agenda.

As a public school graduate at the elementary, secondary and college levels, let me share some of the wisdom my education (at the hands of your colleagues)has given me. Start drinking heavily. After a while it won't hurt so bad.

hey granny, quit and get another job. OR you can stop complaining because you have a source of income and guaranteed benefits and pension. i swear, teachers are the most ungrateful lot.

So after 34 years, annual teacher salary is 77k...if you don't like that salary, if it's soo bad, go find another job as a media specialist in the private sector where your job is guaranteed, thanks to the union...If you really want a raise, opt out of the union and save yourself $600 a year or whatever it costs...
