At last! Fine dining in Catonsville! Had dinner last night at the Catonsville Gourmet and it was wonderful. Great food, lovely ambience, eager waitstaff, really nice menu. We are sold...and apparently so are a lot of other Catonsvillians. Every table was taken. Bravo!

Had a wonderful lunch with two lady friends today. Excellent service, delicious food, extensive menu. Great experience. Just what we needed in Catonsville.

I had so hoped that Catonsville had a new culinary institution to freshen-up the atmosphere of the old stand-bys (Ship's Cafe' and Jennings). But, alas, the old guard has nothing to fear.
Our Lobster Bisque was inedible (salt, salt, salt). The Seafood Salad should have been more aptly named "Seafood and some Mayo". The Cream of Crab is better named "Cream of Drab". Not that I believe all seafood should be dowsed with Old Bay but a little spice/flavor would have added wonders to the above mentioned dishes. It's seems the chef is afraid of spice, everything was bland.
Yes, the tables are full but I have to wonder how many were repeat business or just people trying it for the first/last time? It should be interesting to see where there are in a year.
They have a fresh interior, and a perfect location to attract Catonsville residents and beyond. They must, however, improve the quality of the food. I fear this won't happen as the chef is a co-owner so I can't see him firing himself and hiring a more proficient chef, do you?
I wonder how crowded Jennings is tonight ...
