To all the people that were members or golfed there, lets talk about the great little place we loved that is no longer in existence. Rest In Peace Miss Mary Moore and Mr. Robert Craycraft, we loved you all and your Golf Course.

That was where I learned to golf. I loved that place. It was the most challenging course in this entire area. I used to go practice on the putting green and Mr. Craycraft would come up from his house and give me pointers and say "that a boy" when I made the shot. We don't have places like that anymore where people who own it care and come and show you that they do

Remember Rainbow anyone? He was legally blind but he had played that course so many times that he could go under par each time. Rainbow's Rock was the rock he hit with a golf ball and it bounced off the rock and went into green number 9's hole way up the hill. They put a plaque there and named it Rainbow's Rock. I wonder if that is still there. The Franz's raped that place and put cheap housing there so I wonder if they left rainbows rock. it would be a couple houses up from Bob Craycraft's brick ranch house that they built around to make Lakinview Heights

I think if you go to where Mr. Craycraft lived, its the second house up from it and down the steep hill behind the house and you will see that rainbows rock is still there. I dont know if they kept the plaque but rainbows rock is still in the hill. I miss that course. They didnt charge and arm and a leg to play and now it cost like $50 to play 18 holes when Mr. Craycraft only charged like 16 bucks to play even with a new club car cart. We didn't know what we had until it was gone. He charged us only what he had to when the other golf courses charge way too much.

I moved to this area in 1995 and I went to several area golf courses and played to decide where I wanted to join. I went to Diamond Links, Sandy Creek, and Sundowner before I went to Rolling Meadows. Once I went to Rolling Meadows I was shocked at how low the membership price was and I joined just because it was half the price of the others. The other reason I joined Rolling Meadows was that it was twice as good of a Golf Course than the others I had visited. The greens were perfect and after playing 18 I went to the clubhouse and ate at the restaurant and it was the best double cheeseburger I had ever had so I paid the money that day and joined. I was a member from 1996 until it sold to the new owners who decided to close it and make a housing development out of it. I miss it everyday. I didnt know Mr. Craycraft but I had seen him checking out the conditions several times when I was golfing and if he is still alive I want to thank him for the good times and affordable golf games I had there. He only charged us half of what he should have or could have and provided us with a top notch course that was worth paying much more than that to play

My dad worked there at Rolling Meadows Golf Course for many years for the owner Bob Craycraft. He made good money in the warm months but since he was a golf course worker, in the colder months he didn't make much because there was no work for him. Mrs. Craycraft showed up at our house on christmas eve with presents for everybody, it was a car load full of them and she just gave them to my dad to give to us so we would think he bought them and she never was involved. We knew only she bought them because years later he told us she did when she died. She even wrapped them and everything. Since I got older I have heard that she did that a lot for people so if you want to do that topix thing and say bad things about them please don't say anything bad about Bob and Betty Jo Craycraft who owned Rolling Meadows and Craycraft's Foodland. I wouldn't have had a Christmas if it wasnt for them and my dad wouldn't have had a job either. People are cruel on here but they are deceased and deserve total respect for the life they both lived helping people out who didnt have anything.

The Craycrafts rocked, and Rolling Meadows had the best greens in the tri-state, bar none.

I worked there for years and I can honestly say I never was mistreated in any way or didnt get what i earned. Heres a news flash, it was a seasonal job and if you dont understand that then your comment is probably just bullshtt. Bob let us get between 20 to 30 hours overtime during busy (spring and summer seasons) so it would offset for the winter when they were closed and we couldnt work. Anybody that was worth keeping he let work at Foodland during the off months so they didnt have to file unemployment. You probably just wanted to sit on your arse and get paid for it after you got fired. Anybody who wants to say that Mr. Craycraft was anything but fair and honest is someone who will never have that said about them I can assure you. Mr. Craycraft had a good heart and made sure that noone who worked for him did without. I even got profit sharing 401k for the time I worked at Foodland during the winters. You are full of crap.

if you were seeking unemployment benefits you must have been fired and were just wanting to get paid to sit on your rear end and do nothing. I dont blame them for fighting you getting your unemployment. Unemployment wouldnt have cost them any more if you got it or not. I think it was just the principle of someone living on welfare when they didnt deserve it that made them tell the truth about you instead of letting you draw a check for doing nothing. Good Job Rolling Meadows...kept another free loader from gettin the "draw".
